I dyed a few bleach spots (one large – 8 small) for a customer and they came out great. However, about a week later, the spots returned brighter than ever. I returned to dye again – same results… I used the bleach neutralizer both times and I’m not getting any bleach smell. Can’t seem to figure this one out. I put bleech neutralizer in a few weeks ago and let it dry completely, I returned yesterday and put color in AGAIN (hopefully the third time is the charm) – I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

    Anyone have this happen? Suggestions?

Also, Is it just me or is the whole color wheel thing totally confusing? If you want tan you add violet? What?? Anyone have info or a link that puts this process in a language forest gump (aka me) could understand?

    Thanks!

I heat up the carpet before I die it. I just use the iron and a terry towel to heat it. Just like a red stain, without the red remover. This will help open the pores and set the die. I also add a little acid set to my die mixture. As far as the color wheel it can be confusing. Just remember that you are replacing the missing color. Violet is what we use the most. To make a brown (tan)you would have to mix red yellow and blue. When I have a bleach spot on tan carpet it has a slight yellow tint to it. I need to add red and blue to get it back to tan. When you mix them together it makes purple. (violet) The best way to understand it is to just keep practicing.
