For those that have not experienced Quick Books, the version currently being sold by HB should be a good choice to get your feet wet.
Quick Books “Simple Start”Those of us that have Quick Books experience are probably using Quick Books Pro.

after a little more seaching I have found that the customer manager intergrates with
Customer Manager can automatically synchronize contact information with QuickBooks Simple Start, Basic, Pro, and Premier Editions 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007. It also works with Microsoft® Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007 and Microsoft Outlook® Express 5.5 and 6.0. Flexible settings allow you to control which types of information are shared. For instance, you could allow Customer Manager to automatically pull in your QuickBooks customers but not your QuickBooks employees. In addition, you can import data into Customer Manager from any other program that allows you to export data in the CSV (comma-separated values) or text data file format, such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, or Quicken®. But you cannot share information automatically back and forth between these applications and Customer Manager.
so using the mailing and such would be a little more difficult
what else?
March 2, 2007 at 3:20 pm #149110Bwaite77ParticipantI have been looking at the option of using Quickbooks and Customer Manager. However, I am not a bookkeeper. So instead of downloading a copy of my Quickbooks for the bookkeeper to work on, I would have to pay her higher dollar charge to come to my location and do the end of year returns. That way I can continue working from my programs.
The problems is that you can not copy the books for the accountant to work on, and then restore that back into your program up to a certain date. When it restores, it restores the whole thing.
The only option is to create a “new company” in Quickbooks each year.
Then the accountant can work on the old company while you work from your new company.March 8, 2007 at 6:45 pm #149111tn16ParticipantJust some additional information that maybe helpful to those taking a look at quickbooks:
It does support the importing of data from quickbooks, csv, excel, access, outlook, and outlook express. This means you will be able to import your customer data from the HB scheduler
The Intuit website is a great resource, you can view info about customer manger here, and I’m sure at many other places on the website:
http://quickbooks.intuit.com/product/add_ons/customer_management.jhtmlYou can demo quickbooks at: http://quickbooks.intuit.com/product/about_quickbooks/trials.jhtml
Here you can download a 15-30 trial of many of the products to try and get a better feel of which one is for you before buying.March 8, 2007 at 10:02 pm #149112FL18ParticipantPersonally and semi related to what you guys are disscussing. I like the HB scheduler. I know it has or had bugs but it works great for me. I liked the idea that was thrown out there a while back that HB scheduler would intergrate Quickbooks and HB schedule software in one. Just my opinoin. I could see where that would get tricky and expensive. How about some more operators chime in on what they are using and if it works great for them. So, here you go, I will go first

March 8, 2007 at 10:24 pm #149113Bwaite77ParticipantMike I agree, I would like to see the HB scheduler intergrated with Qkbks.
However the last discussion was that it would not be cost effective.
I like my HB scheduler, and until I can resolve the problem of restoring the book keepers copy, I will keep using the HB program. One advantage to switching is that the printed schedule in MicroRich Outlook is the same as the old HB program. (Might have been just a wee bit before your time Mike.)
