Heres a new topic. What kind of shoes do people wear. I wear white sneakers, but if i buy expensive ones they are better for my feet, but the cleaner gets on them and wears them out in no time. If i get the cheaper ones they have no arch support and my feet bother me. Just curious what everyones thoughts on this are.

In my opinion, it depends on what “uniform” you are wearing. We wear the blue short sleeve button down with khaki dockers. For shoes, I wear Timberland work boots (no not the kind the rappers wear). They have a Pro line of work boots. Very good boots. I am a little biased though as my good friend is the local Timberland Pro rep so my employee and I get them for free (we are actually meeting him for lunch today in between jobs and it may be time to hit him up for new boots). They are great looking boots, very comfortable, come in many different styles, and we have gotten many compliments from customers. Since we both wear the same style, they wonder if it’s part of the uniform. My first pair lasted over a year and my 2nd pair I’ve had for about a year now (and they still look good). Before he started hooking us up, I usually wore some form of hiking/work boot. I like a brown or dark brown boot with our uniform. I think they look sharp and hold up well to the elements, both mother nature and carpet cleaning related.

I wear brown Rockports w/ the blue shirt/khaki pants or black Rockports w/ white/blue. Rockports feel nearly as comfortable as a sneaker but looks more professional.
JoANn, Dan and I wear either white or blue shirt, khaki long pants (no shorts) and leather loafers. We always wear booties inside the home.
(I know that not many other carpet cleaners around here wear booties and it makes a huge difference since damp carpeting cleans off the bottom of shoes very well. We also leave enough pairs for the family or realtor.)
Little things like long pants, leather loafers and booties may seem trivial, but they register high in the subliminal scale…
Also, vans are kept clean and neat in appearance.

I have been wearing the blue s/s with dark blue shorts.
I chose black snickers from Shoes for Crews, long ago.

Skechers has also come out with a line of slip resistant leather shoes.
I Look for any type of boating shoe…..because they don’t slip when you go to hard surfaces..I also like the slip on type as you can kick them off easily.
I try to pick a color that goes with my tux that i wear when cleaning.I have been wearing a black workman line of rebox. they have a good griping sole, seem to be holding up the the chemicals, and while kinda boreing and old manish, they still present a down to business work look.
Be careful of the black soles, they sometimes leave a dark mark on light carpet after applying protector. The solvent sometimes reacts with the material of the soles
the workman line that i got is suposed to be resistant to solvents and oils and such. that being said i will keep a better eye out and if there is any making occuring i’ll let ya’ll know post haste
