Ok, I have heard alot about SM since the national seminar and it has been both good and bad. I work an area of about 400,000 and have come to realize that there is a very wide diversity in culture and background. Needless to say, not everyone knows everyone. People don’t know who to trust. My dad on the other hand signed up for SM 3-4 months ago and has never recieved a lead. He is in an area of about 30,000 people, who are mostly home grown. Point is, if you live in a large metropolis, you have a huge opportunity with SM. Since February, I have recieved 12 leads which cost me about $144. I booked and completed 5 jobs totaling $1041.71 and I have 1 pending job of about $150-$175. Now $144 is 14% cost of the total. The jobs that I did not book, either changed their mind, were just shopping, or my price was too high for them. Either way I have come out a winner. I have 2 other competetors who so far havn’t ever been a problem. Actually most of the time, people see my profile and see the DRY IN 1 HOUR and request me directly instead of doing the market match where everyone bids on it. My profile has everything that an ideal profile should have including pictures, references(BNI members work great), and anything else you can think of. If you have never tried using service magic, look up your area and see if you have competetors using it. Chances are, that they are using SM because it works for them. If you have tried SM and it didn’t work, may I suggest beefing up your profile and focus on using words and/or phrases that grab peoples attention. Right now would be a great time to start as well because THE FISH ARE BITIN’. 😀

The cost is 12.00 a lead wheather you book them or not however if you try to make contact with the lead through phone,e-mail & text messageing and they don’t respond then servic magic will credit your accountant so you don’t have to pay for that lead. You have to stay on top of service magic but they will do it.

I also talked to them and they said for heavens best operators that it would be $49.95 to join you will just have to talk to your sales rep about it or they will charge you $99. Also if you look at there web site they have chem.-dry name on it under carbonated cleaners. I was told by my sales rep that if we all call or if the mane office would call and ask they would put the heavens best name under low-moisture cleaners. This would expand the heavens best recognition on this site. So if all the people that currently use sm would call and ask for this it might be a good thing
this is what they ask
What type of cleaning process do you prefer?

I get a text message to my cell as soon as the customer hits send. I call them immediatly. I’ve been using it for 3 years now and it has generated solid returns.
September 7, 2007 at 3:25 am #149671hern7146ParticipantI have been with service magic since February 2007. It has generated $1942.33 in sales and 14 new customers that I might not have reached. On top of that I have gotten 8 referal customers from that 14 which makes 22 new customers and about $3200 in sales. I have had 25 leads for a total cost of $300 vs. $3200 in sales which is about 9% advertising cost. Everyone is correct though you have to be on top of it and call the customer as soon as the call comes in. Just yesterday I booked a $300 job that was a referal from my very first sm customer over 7 months ago. My thinking since I am very new to the area is use every vehicle I can to gain customers. Once I get into their homes and they see our superior product and great customer service they will advertise for me. So in closing I think service magic is a great vehicle to drive your buiseness and help you reach customers who might not ever use you.

This was just my outcome in my area. I think it would’nt hurt to try. Some other areas have had great luck as mentioned above.September 8, 2007 at 2:57 pm #149673pachecoParticipantWe tried them when we first started and had the same experience…tire kickers is a good description. Then the thought occurred to me: Was the competition calling just to play with us…and costing me $12/call? Competition calls all the time and have not answered my phone for any UNKNOWN caller for years…I always answer if they have a phone number.
Our first postcard sent out is a hit, got business and many inquiries about repair work…Thanks Greg.
We are finishing another postcard this weekend. It will replace our reminder letter and give an awesome shot from Hubble to boot… We have already picked out the Christmas Card/Postcard….simple, yet awesome!
We will pick out something special for our JAN-FEB business special.
Thanks Hubble!!!

This is referred to as click fraud, and if you can prove that it is happening somehow, you can usually get a refund. SM may also have the resources to investiage such problems by looking at the source IP for you clicks. I’m sure they record this, and could easily see that someone has clicked your profile and filled out the service request form 20 times within the last day. Click fraud is on the rise, so make sure you watch yourself if you are getting a lot of bogus referals.
Service magic has been a good source for several of our operators. I am currently doing some research on related subjects for a project we hope to release soon. One of the better sources of leads that I have seen recently has been citysearch.com
One of our operators in Washington told me he is using the service. I investigated how many clicks came to our website from his profile, and it was right around 100 in one month (August) for the one operator alone. City search does charge per lead, but they are much less expensive than service magic. This month he’s recieved about 46 clicks, of which about 10 requested a bid. With city search, you are usually talking cents with clicks though, not dollars.
I’ll be conducting some tests with related sites over the next one as we attempt to find out which ones are the most effective for us.
