Anyone charge extra for weekend jobs? Just curious. I know some industries do (dentists), but didn’t know if any of you have hopped on board. I don’t, but am considering it. Or also considering going with a larger minimum charge for Saturdays. I hate wasting my saturday for a small job that I know I could have made time for during the week, even in the evening.

However once the weather is nicer, I don’t do them unless it is a real good customer or the job will pay real well. I do charge 2 cents per sq ft more occasionally more than that regardless of the season.

Our on-going special is $99 for up to 400 sq. ft. We rarely do any Saturday residential work, but if we must, the special doesn’t apply and our regular rate is .30/sq.ft. It would also have to be a good customer or a large job . . . no minimum jobs on Saturday.
We do some large commercial work on Saturdays. We shoot for $125-$150 per hour.
April 30, 2008 at 12:59 am #152018AnonymousInactiveWe try not to work on Sat or Sun. I usually schedule big commercial jobs for the weekend. But if a residential customer asks us for a weekend, I tell them that we are booked but we have an evening available. if they insist on a weekend or I get the impression that a they really need a weekend I then tell them I can squeeze them in a day they need. We work evenings sat and sun with no charge. We also answer the phone 24/7. It hasn’t been to often but there have been times that I have booked jobs at 2am while the competetion was sleeping.
April 30, 2008 at 1:55 pm #152019AnonymousGuestWe work Mon-Friday full days & Saturday’s usually no later than 2pm. I have considered changing our work schedule to have the techs off on Saturdays, however we are usually booked 2-3 weeks in advanced for Saturday jobs. Next to our morning appointments, Sat is the second most popular slot.
We do not charge extra for evening or Saturday jobs. I don’t think I would like that from a consumer’s stand point. My hairdresser does not charge extra for evening or weekend appointments and I appreciate that as those are the only times I am available for hair color; I mean restoration:)
April 30, 2008 at 2:35 pm #152020Larry youngParticipantI work every other Sat, and dont charge extra. I will do a vacancy or two on the other Sat. (I promise my landlords I will have them done within 72 hours from there call) and my daughter works with me that weekend.
May 3, 2008 at 12:38 pm #152021pachecoParticipantOur experience is that anyone requesting or needing a Saturday job has no problem with pay more…I never tell them is will be more, but that there are no discounts… Never discount for evening work either.
Hope this is helpful.
May 4, 2008 at 3:35 am #152022AnonymousInactiveI work any day of the week, including some Sundays. That is as long as it doesn’t interfere with my kids activities or my activities.
I worked last Superbowl Sunday because it was a good paying job, I would be finished by game time and I was doing a favor to a new customer who runs a very large industrial complex where I may get more work in the future.
At this time, I don’t charge for weekends but like the rest of you, I want it to be a good paying job.

May 5, 2008 at 10:57 pm #152024Bwaite77ParticipantHey Laura,
I think you should charge more. Your not asking your hairdresser to come to you. You drive to your hairdresser.A Saturday customer isn’t going to bring you their wall to wall carpet.
I rarely work on Saturday’s, and never on Sunday.June 2, 2008 at 10:05 pm #152025AnonymousInactiveHi all I have just started my operation an I work anytime my customers need me I point out to all my new an old customers that I will be there within reason of when they need me I work on Saturdays more than Sundays but it doesnt matter to me4 I love this job an the company I thank god for the 2 people who got me into it witch was loren Turner an Bill Newton it has changed my life an even better my faimlys life an you all have a part in it to because it takes us all to make it grow thank you everyone
