Yesterday, on my birthday, I lost my first stain protector sale for the year. My goal was to complete a full year with protector sales at 100%. Bumber man. Why on my birthday ! Anyway, my sales to this customer, in a two visit job, reached nearly $1200 without protector! I’ve cleaned for this lady several times before and always applied protector. She now has a newborn baby and elected to stay away from as many chemicals as possible. I bit my lip, stuck my tail between my legs and granted her wish. If it had been a nice day and the windows could have been open, she would not have noticed the strong odor as I was protecting the first room. Oh well, life goes on. If I refuse to clean for this lady again I may meet my goal next year.
Good Day! 🙁October 31, 2007 at 4:59 am #150859hbottumwaParticipantBrian,
I really feel your pain,
When you get to be my age, Birthday 07 won’t seem so sad.
At least you didn’t have to get a permit from the fire department before lighting the candles!
Glad to have you part of the Heaven’s Best Family!

I also did my first job of the year without fabric protector this week. It must be a sickness that is going around. Hope the day after your birthday can make up for the loss of revenue.

I believe she was very smart to avoid protector with the baby… Please read the recent posting about Kawasaki’s Disease and some of the attachments….here is one for consideration.

In LV, Cody warned very clearly that the use of protector should be done in a well ventilated area. I heard that loud and clear. Any short-term gain can easily be totally obliterated by just one little…young or old, person having a sensitivity to the protector or one of its mystery chemicals components.
Just my thoughts, or rather the thoughts of Cody and the scientific community at large. Any of the chemicals we are applying to the carpets carry some risk…101 extremely low….but protector and some of the solvents are higher.
Being a leukemia survivor for 12 years, having a scientific background and actually reading and understanding 99.9% of what is included in the MSDS provided by Cody, makes me naturally cautious with the use of a few of the HB chemicals.
Just my 2 cents worth of thought…and experience…

Thanks a “bunch” for that link on cleaning supplies. The best part of that link for me is relating to the mildew and mold section. I went on a job years ago where the women had Stanley Steamer clean her carpets. She was not happy and called Heaven’s Best 3 months later, we went in and as we started vacuuming, the beater bar was pulling the fibers right out of the berber backing, We lifted carpet with owners permission and found black mold and rotten jute on the soaken wet padding!!!!!! We need to have all of our people educated on this subject and maybe use it in some form of advertising.
Thanks Again,

I said no prob, I understand your conserns and that I was going to go do some research on it. scheaduked the job same price, so I wont loose any revenue in it, then I come to the forum to ask questions on the subject and its up on 2 threads started today. I am nervouse now.

I wish that te home office could obtain some photos of situations as you describe and without any HWE bashing, just post the photos of problems…a picture is worth a thousand words.
I also like the groove along some baseboards where the wand has left its marks from rubbing against the baseboard, damaging it…sometimes it is really graphic.
And in our litigious society, we should be concerned about how we use the chemicals we are using if not for our own health, for the health of others, as Cody had stressed in LV.
Just a thought or two on the subject…not intended to scare anyone at all. All of our chemicals, as mentioned in a previous post can be used safely, if properly stored, handled and used according to Cody and the MSDS.
