I recently attempted to clean a glycol stain. Not a job I usually take but this is a fairly new customer & the last two times I turned him down for one reason or another any way he had a glycol leak on a plush green carpet about 20 sf total. I extracted as mush as I could with the water claw then rinsed with my solution & repeated a couple of times. There was still some residue so I sprayed a fine mist of dry solvent worked it in with my brush then rinsed & extracted again. Went over it with a towel a couple of times & called it good. Now a couple weeks later he called & asked if I could come by & treat it again because there is still a slimy feeling on top of the carpet. I’m thinking it wicked back & if that’s the case would it be best to remove the pad & seal the floor? Also will I ever be able to get the glycol out of that thick carpet?

I returned to the glycol stain to re treat. It wasn’t as bad as it thought it would be. I was able to remove most of it the first time. what was left was some residue on top. I tried to extract & didn’t get much.I sprayed FAE raked it in let sit for a little bit sprayed 101 then I hit it with the dirt napper then a towel. After that I sprayed a fine mist of dry solvent. I then sprayed 101 again & went over it with a pad & a towel. The entire time being very careful not to over saturate. I think I got it this time. I hope this helps if any body ever comes across a glycol stain. If you do take the job be sure to charge accordingly. It is time consuming & most likely will require multiple treatments.
