I noticed when I logged in the announcement requesting we list every city and every zip code in our areas? I’m getting older, but maybe we have “been there, done that” already? Correct me if I’m mistaken – ha! As I recall the ‘zip code’ method of search did not work. For one reason, there are often boundaries which cross into the same zip codes – then you have the question, “which operator do you list first”? I think searches should be by city name – I believe most people can find us this way. Am I having ‘de ja vu’, or do I remember correctly that this already failed before??

I know before we could just separate multiple zips for a city by commas. Hope this is still the case as I have a lot of zips. http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/citytown.jsp Use this if you have multiple zips for your city and you don’t know them all.

On the new database, we organized the information in a way that will allow us to create a good zip code locator. I don’t know if everyone already submitted their zip codes or not, but we don’t have the zip codes anymore. I really want to get this to work and I know we can. Once we implement it, the customer will not have to jump through as many hoops to find an operator.
The way it will work is, the user will enter a zip code. If there is an exact zip code match with one or several operators, then it will show those operators. (As of right now if the user selects a city that has multiple operators, then it shows all the operators) I think that most operators that share cities my operate in seperate zip codes. But if there is not an exact match with the users zip code, then they will see a list of operators within a certain mile radius, hopefully I can get it to list them in order of how close they operate to the user’s zip code.
If this doesn’t make sense, let me know.
If you have cities that have more than one zip code, please email the city names and all the zip codes, because I will need to enter them.
Justin told me that it didn’t work last time because of how the old system was set up and we fixed that with the new system.
