I have an idea and want to know if anybody has tried something like it I want to make a reminder card that has some sort or deal or discount. I am only interested in using this for my current customers. I haven’t done this before and was wondering what kind if discount I should do. What has worked for you? I want to have 3 different ones and then track and see what one works the best. Ideas????

In Florida we just started this: A printed coupon (printed from vista print, quality was very good) to be passed out to all customers, It says, How did you like our cleaning? (we all kmow the answer, Great job) Then it says make us your FAVORITE cleaner, put us on your computer favorite list. (FL. web address) If they don’t know how to do that, we offer to do it for them. The next time they book job, if off the internet they can print out coupon and pass to operator for a 10% discount. This is new and will take time to be successful. The intent is to keep them as a steady customer and not need to look for any other cleaners in the future.

I do a quarterly mailer to all of my customers. I usually offer 10% or $20 off. I still require a minimum.
One thing that I just started was I made up a half sheet of paper with three coupons on it. We staple these coupons to every sales receipt on every job we do. The coupons are all $20 off. One is for carpet cleaning, one is for upholstery cleaning and the third is a “Give a friend $20”. We have a 90 day expiration from the date of service on all of them and again, we require a minimum.Ron,
I really like your idea. I am going to implement that program into my operation as well.October 22, 2008 at 10:59 pm #152858chez6996ParticipantHi Ammon,
Good to see you on the board, I know you are busy and that’s good!!!!!
Are you going to S.O. meeting end of month? I can bring sample of web site post cards I had made up for all my people. So far the feed back has been good on these post cards. The template is on vista print and I’m told anyone can use it, just change the web address.

I will be in Salt Lake for the meeting. Definitely bring the postcard. I’ve already got the ball rolling on putting your idea into affect in my franchise.October 22, 2008 at 11:44 pm #152860chez6996ParticipantAmmon,
Check out Vist Print, I felt the price was excellent for the quality of the paper stock and printing.

October 28, 2008 at 7:30 pm #152862GA18ParticipantFriends, a general question…Why do we spend the time and money to sell a customer we already have? My experience is that those that like us use us and those that don’t either never will or have not heard of us. I am less likely to discount to regular clients, especially in a mass campaign.
October 29, 2008 at 1:00 am #152863AnonymousInactiveMatt,
I agree with you, but I also disagree. I feel there are two thought processes here. One, like yours, where if they love us, they will continue to use us so why spend more money on them or discount them. Very valid and I agree. The other thought process is that it is much more expensive to get/find a new customer than to keep an old customer. If a customer is loyal to me, I would rather reward them over some “joe blow” off the street that may just be looking for a deal each time, and this time he found mine. Doesn’t mean I’m always going to give my repeats deals, but I would rather give it to them. I think either way has its pros and cons.
October 29, 2008 at 3:39 am #152864HBPuyallupParticipantDave, thanks for the info. This is where my thinking is taking me I use a company call send out cards I can send out a post card for under 50 cents. It yes will have three different coupons on them. Like clean 3 rooms get the 4th free will a sq.ft. maximum of 250. But more so it is a cheap way to stay in contact with them. I have on the top of the card customer appreciation time our way of saying thanks. It is something a little different that I want to try. I will show you it when I see you this Saturday. I am trying to think out of the box a little but I still may be in the box with this one. We will see. Yes it is 6 time more expensive to get a new customer so I have heard.
October 29, 2008 at 3:47 am #152865AnonymousInactiveI send out the reminder cards every month. It’s just a reminder, no discount. I have great results with this. If a customer calls from the reminder and asks if I’m running a special?, I reply, “it depends on the conditions”. I then explain why. I love the way ddevlin thinks. I mostly agree with treating your current customers like gold. “A bird in hand is worth two in the bush” Keep that one bird happy and singing because the whole flock is listening!
November 3, 2008 at 1:59 pm #152866IN01ParticipantI really liked Ammon’s idea! That’s something that would be easy to do! Thanks for the idea!
November 3, 2008 at 2:05 pm #152867IN01ParticipantWe do send coupons & specials to our current clients as a reminder and have been since we started. But the reason we feel most inclined to spend the money and effort for clients we already have is that many of our clients are feeling the pinch and putting off cleaning due to the economy. I’d rather clean for a discount, than to have the phones slow down and not be cleaning enough!
Plus, with the idea of “Give a friend” your client is likely to give pass on the referrals. That’s worth it right there in my book! Especially in this economy!
