Greetings Gods and Goddesses of Grime,
One day, a business man was hurrying to his car when he noticed a talented shop keeper sitting in front of his store in a rocking chair, sipping lemonade and relaxing. All around the store keeper were beautiful, hand creafted wood carvings.
The business man commented that it was only 1:30 in the afternoon and “a little early to be taking a break”.
The artisan took another sip from his glass of lemonade and said, “this isn’t a break…I’m done for the day.”
The business man exclaimed, “what do you mean, done for the day? You need to keep producing more carvings so you can make more money! You could even hire an assistant to help finish your carvings so you can make even more money. If you hire a couple more employees, you could produce enough to start selling on the internet.”
“Why on earth would I want to do that?” asked the shop keeper.
“So you can enjoy your life, of course!” said the business man.
The shop keeper, took another sip of lemonade, leaned back in his rocking chari, and cloesed his eyes, and quietly said, “What do you think I am doing?
I know we are all hard workers. And being in business for ourselves is a huge responsibility- we have to make sure to bring in enough income to pay our employees, purchase equipment, charge for our hard work, etc.
But remember, there is a “living potential” that lies within our earning potential…sometimes we forget to nurture that as well.We must not only work hard at making money, but work hard at enjoying life as well. We only have one shot at this journey of life. Remember to take a moment EACH day, to sip from the glass of life, and slow down enough to enjoy the moment you are in. For the “living potential” comes from experiencing the journey…it doesn’t come from the final “destination”.
May your days be filled with peace and your heart with joy. Until we visit again, I wish you well.
Warm regards,
Kathlynn
