Greetings my friends,
Once upon a time, a contractor called one of his long-time workers into his office and said, “I would like you to be fully in charge of the next house we build. You will be ordering all of the materials and overseeing the job yourself.” I trust you will do a good job.
The worker was thrilled to be trusted with this task. As he began the project, he thought to himself, “Since I am in charge of this project, I can cut a few corners and no one will know. If I use less expensive building materials and cheaper labor, I could make a little profit by pocketing the extra money. After all, I’ve worked hard all my life, I deserve this!”
So, he ordered second-grade lumber and concrete, put in cheap wiring, used unskilled laborers, and overlooked the “sub-standard” end product.
His boss arrived when the house was finished and told him, “you have worked hard for me all these years. I have decided to give you this house in appreciation.”
Moral of the story? The person you are is the person who emerges when no one is looking…
How do we work when the customer isn’t home? Do we still edge when no one is looking, make one more pass to make sure the carpet is as clean as we can possibly get it, charge a fair price, etc.
So my friends, always remember that we are in charge of and have to live with the reputation and character we build (even when no one else is looking). 😮
Until the next time we visit, I wish you well.
Warm regards,
Kathlynn
