My opinion is referrals are the best form of advertising. Whether its leaving extra cards for customers to pass out to friends and family or just asking a customer for them. Im curious if anyone pays their customers for referrals? How much is a referral worth? I am considering discounting my customers invoices in return for their referrals, but just didnt know what a referral was worth…. Does anyone else do this and what is your system?
If I book a job by way of customer referral I will always send the referring customer a thank you letter with a $25 gift card as a token of my appreciation.
I am just about ready to mail out brochures to plumbers for water damage referrals and we are going to offer $250.00 per job. I have seen some other firms paying as much as $550 per job.
i have never have been paid for a referral, nor do i expect it. I feel like its just good relationships that exist that should be the key in having your name passed on to someone. That being said , it would go a long way to give a lg. spotter or something to the referral giver!!!
90% of my business is customer referrals the phone book rots, coupons mailers stink, the internet…well…gotta love that. I get lots of referrals from happy customers I give out 10 gift cards or cash for repeaters.
Sometimes I do but I have to admit not all the time. I don’t really get many referrels when I ask. That usually comes later on when they talk to their friends and neighbors. What I do is go to five houses around the area and give out business cards flyers etc… and let them know I was at their neighbors house.
Thank Andy. Good idea. I should get some door hangers and do the “5 around” too. I’m tryin to boost up my referals. I have a lot of repeat customers but seem to be lacking on the referals.
