Today I participated in a realator expo. It was put together for Keller Williams realaty. It cost $150 dollars to be a vendor. I took 75 small spotter bottles and a flyer we made up for the realators. We past out spotters to everyone. The responce was amazing. They put this on twice a year for each group. I think that we booked about 20 jobs that need to be done asap. I was asked if we give discounts. The answer is NO. But we do leave a spotter bottle on every job. I explained that it is a way that the home owner can keep up with any spots or spills during the selling period. A large spotter for jobs over $130 small for under. I also explained that any time a client is buying a home they should have the carpet not only cleaned but protected before they move in.
This turned out to be a great marketing tool to get in with the realators. I just stood there and they came to me begging for info and they loved the free spotters. These kinds of vendor expos are going on in evry city. They have a big one open to all realators in the vally coming up in a few months. My cost was around $250 for the entire show. I expect a 7-8 thousand $ return this year with an unlimited return on the investment over the years to come.

We will be attending a Keller Williams vendor fair for the 3rd year in a row in May. The office reportedly has over 300 agents (not quite that many attend), but in the previous 2 years we have done as you did and handed out 75 small blue bags that contained a spotter bottle, spotter chart, cards/magnet, and a small flyer with info on us and what we do for them. We do take 10% off for their customers they refer us. In our experience, we also end up getting jobs from other vendors there too. Everyone has carpet! Just an FYI, we had to be invited to participate in the fair by one of the agents. Don’t know if they are all like this, but it seems common. If any operators deal with a lot of realtors, make sure to always ask if they have vendor fairs and see if you can get in them. Some, like the Keller Williams office, also have a vendor book that they hand out to all agents, so try and get into these as well.
The one part I’ve always hated is what kind of candy to put on the table. I’ve been planning on trying out the mints this year and glad to hear you had a good response Greg.
