Just curious if anyone else has ever heard of this. We cleaned for a regular yesterday and she said today her 10 yr old dog (schnauzer) has a rash on its stomach (from lying on carpet?) and she was wondering if we used a different solution b/c it has never happened in the past. The only difference in what we did from previous times was adding a little Orange Deod to the solution b/c her dog is “spotting/dribbling”? Anyone ever heard of this happening? Otherwise, solution is just 101 with a little citrus booster.
On a different note, they changed stairs from carpet to hardwood and dog fell down stairs (something to pass on to customers considering this change). $2000 later dog has fused vertebrae after experimental procedure. Dog was also attacked by what the customer described as 4′ tall owl that tried to carry it away. Dog doesn’t like to go outside anymore (see spotting). Rough 6-8 months for this dog….
January 10, 2007 at 1:25 am #148487FL18ParticipantPossible but highly unlikely. I say possible because dogs and other animals are like us, they have allergies to one thing and not the other. I worked for a vet’s office for a couple of years and know, by looking at orange deoderizer’s MSDS sheet, that nothing in the deoderizer can hurt any animal. The dog may like certain nutrients or simply water in it’s diet, or could have picked it up outside. If it happened around the time of the cleaning, which ofcourse is going to be blamed on you, then the dog could have layed on something outside. Some kind of grass or plant, or bug that secreted something. If she is blaming you then explain what u did different, apologize, and give a pickle of some kind to smoothe things over, and assure her that u won’t do it agian. Dog could be reacting to medicine from “experimental procedure”. Anyway, I hope it works out. As far as the dribble. Just explain that u will do the best u can, because u can’t use the deoderizer (becuase it will be ur fault or she will say it is) and that u would rather dog be safe. Or just simply tell her that it is not your fault, which I know it isn’t. Hope I helped more than confused.
God Bless,

You might just look up the MSDS for Citrus Booster as well as the Orange Deodorizer previously mentioned.
Each has the potential for causing an irritation…as stated under the health section. Pretty plain to me. Though diluted, some people or other animal may be hypersensitive to a particular chemical.
I am not …. repeat NOT saying our chemicals are not safe to use, and I certainly believe that if used properly, they represent a very safe alternative to much of the other stuff on the market… They are being tested daily!
The best argument for our chemicals is this..they are used from coast to coast in hundreds if not thousands of homes daily. If there were any major problem…even a minor problem, I would bet my LV tickets that Cody would be investigating ASAP in order to close a noose around the issue…
I would urge all to read the MSDS, and reread or ask questions if you do not understand something.
As a little sidenote: my son Dan appears to have a very slight sensitivity to the CL101. He is very careful when handling it…or any other chemical.
Hope this helps a little.

Never in my 13 yrs of HB ownership have I had this problem w/a customer and I deal with pet owners constantly. I use citrus boost all the time. I, myself have a dog with allergy problems and for the past 11 yrs. my dog has had outbreaks as you describe on his belly. It is most likely from the dog rolling in the grass or other plant matter. Typically diagnosed as “environmental allergies” You should ask the customer what the vet’s conclusion was. I treat my dog with benadryl or something stronger if necessary and it gives the relief needed. Our products are fairly mild but I always ask my customers to keep off for an hour after I’m gone. If the dog was allowed to lay on wet carpet then possibly it may have irritated his sensitive skin. It sounds like the owl problem is a bit more serious. Where I live we have many predetors including owls, fox and several bear. Hopefully, the dog owner and dog are smart enough to know when to stay inside. Good Luck!

Just a little curious…when was the last time you saw any grass or plant matter in Denver?
January 18, 2007 at 3:16 am #148493AnonymousInactiveI had a dog customer that claim her dog became very ill (not a rash) within 24 hours of me cleaning. I faxed the msds sheets of all products used in her home to her vet. Her vet ruled out our products of being the cause.
January 18, 2007 at 3:40 am #148494pachecoParticipantI did exactly the same thing regarding a cat and the same result as well..I first notified Cody however.

I thought we were going to a standardized uniform. In other words. I thought we had to wear the blue from corporate. Just curious about that. I guess I missed something. About the dog issue. Our dacshund Austin, below is a pic
His belly is low-centered, as you can see, and had never had a problem.
I also wanted an excuse to put a pic of him on here.Mike
January 18, 2007 at 4:08 pm #148496AnonymousInactiveDave, I am just now starting to see grass. Been over a month since I have. It will be a suprise to many, but that is not typical in Denver. SE Colorado down where Joel Woelk is had areas of 20 ft drifts and some homes could not be reached by military humvee or by snow plow, and instead they could only get to them by snow cat. Crazy weather here.
We clean dog houses every day and this was the first time this had ever been posed. Don’t think it was us. Thanks for everyone’s input. Just needed the reassurance.
January 20, 2007 at 4:58 am #148497kw4662ParticipantI’ve been in business a SHORT time but haven’t had any situations like this, my “low profile” dog has been fine as well.
Really, I just wanted to say – THAT IS THE UNLUCKYIST DOG IN THE WORLD!
