I’ve been thinking of getting into processing credit cards, which I have not had much of a demand for. Rather than use a bulky CC machine, why not use my Blackberry? Has anyone tried this or had any experiences with this idea? What application are you using on what phone? Tell us about good and the bad. I’ve seen several applications but somehow I seem to think they leave a lot to be desired. Thanks.

Have had it for two months now I love it. and they allowed me two months free to try it first. let me know if you have any questions.

Same with Kim…
I run CC using Intuit Merchant services. I put my Quickbooks in a laptop, and connected a card reader to a USB port.
And then attached the card reader to the out board side of the screen. Intuit sales the card reader for $99, but you can get it cheaper here: http://www.posmicro.com/pos-x/xm95.htm $54.00
The system works great, and you won’t have to do “double entry” in Quickbooks. In addition, I began to email the Receipt to clients rather than giving them a printed copy.
Less ink, and paper to buy.
And now I have several hundred email addresses to potentially spam.January 12, 2011 at 1:39 am #154448IN01ParticipantI thought the idea of using a smartphone sounded great but I talked to our computer guy about safety and he said the only concern was that if someone were to clone your phone they’d get all of your credit card info as well as be able to get your bank info.

I have yet to look at it completely, but the said that they have a machine that you can hook up to most droid based phones. I don’t know the cost of processing nor the cost for the equipment. I like this idea of swiped the card right in front of the customer and getting verification right away.

I would find it hard to believe that a credit card merchant that has such a service has not thought about this issue. I would think it is similar to conventional credit card processing equipment that uses land lines, many which just uses the business’ regular phone lines and do not have a dedicated line for this.
February 15, 2011 at 4:37 pm #154449HBPuyallupParticipantI am currently processing with a company the charge 0.5% and $.10 per transaction and a $12 monthly service fee. These numbers are type right. They give me a month to try them out before putting me into a contract. I am about 3 weeks into that. The good thing is that I can process it right on my phone. They send you an app to install. It doesn’t matter if its swiped or keyed in. As far as the receipt is concerned you email to them. If they don’t have an email email it to yourself print it off and mail it to them. I will let you all know what my bill was for processing when I get it. This is not with the company Heartland that I was thinking about trying.
