Have you checked to see if you have crud causing a restriction in the pump (check valve), supply line (screen/filter) or sprayer wand (jet) like Dave mentioned? There is trouble shooting information for Flo Jet on the web that will show you how to dis-assemble/assemble the pump to check. Looking for restrictions is Flo Jet’s recommended place to start for pulsating pumps. If you have a restriction, turning up the pressure might make the pump work harder to supply the product. Maybe shorten the life of the pump? Just my guess. Ask your local repair guy what he thinks!
I had this happen with a pump in a trailer. The water supply would have small pieces of crud in it that would build up in the lines and pump. Cleaned every thing up and it worked just fine.
My sprayer is working fine but I went out and pulled the screen off the supply line this evening and it had what looked like wet lint inside it. I hadn’t cleaned it since last summer. Check it out. Hope you get it figured out.

May 15, 2009 at 12:58 pm #153482pachecoParticipantYou might have a piece of grit or something i the tip…It may be restricting the flow. It really does not take much. I took mine to a farmer’s store and they put a new, different size tip on and voila! works great.

Like when a customers horse pee’d on her carpet. Oooh Geez! You called the wrong number. You need a carpet installer, don’t ya know. I didn’t ask why the horse was in the house.
Sorry the sprayer isn’t working.

May 24, 2009 at 8:57 pm #153485pachecoParticipantTim,
We go some 3-5 weeks or so between charges….did I misunderstand?
May 26, 2009 at 9:24 pm #153486AnonymousInactiveInteresting . . . I charge my power sprayer every night. I think John recommended every night or so at our last seminar. I never run out of power and my batteries seem to last about 2 years. Maybe I don’t need to charge that often, but I’m afraid not to.
May 27, 2009 at 4:25 am #153487AnonymousInactiveI, like Ferris, charge my battery every night. In 6 years, I have not thrown a battery away. My original is neary ready for the recycling bin.
May 28, 2009 at 12:09 am #153488AnonymousInactiveI have purchased a new battery just to have a spare should the 7 year old original goes bad. I charge it whenever it gets a bit low. Sometimes I forget and it gets drained. Lucky for me I have a spare!
May 28, 2009 at 3:17 am #153489Bwaite77ParticipantHey Tim,
I use to have a similar battery situation.
A little fore thought: I have a larger pump in mine, than the original.
(I wish I had known about the pressure adjustment screw back then.)I went to the local battery distribution company and purchased a 7.5 amp battery. It is the same size, only longer. (I had to bend the holding bracket in my sprayer down to fit the battery.)
Now, it runs all day.*******************
On another occasion, I had the misfortune of buying one that would drain down after a couple of hours. I replaced it, only to have the same problem.
Come to find out, that particular batch that the distributor had, was BAD.I found a different battery distributor, and purchased one of his. (Different brand) I have been using that battery for at least 10 months now, without a problem. It last all day, and then some.
June 1, 2009 at 11:30 am #153490pachecoParticipantIf the battery drains quickly, then there may be a short or intermittent short in the wiring. In these non-UL listed units and jerry rigged all over the place, it would be easy to get one. I shorted my battery once accidentally and had to get another.
Don’t forget the tip of the sprayer. I purchased a number of them locally and found one that did a great job in the one unit.
June 4, 2009 at 5:12 am #153491NJ05ParticipantThis is one area that could use some improvement (the sprayer) in my opinion. They have some sprayers on the market that are more shall I say high end.
June 4, 2009 at 1:35 pm #153492AnonymousInactiveI agree with Gary.
June 4, 2009 at 3:26 pm #153493Bwaite77ParticipantI think we have a great sprayer.
Let’s face it, anything you buy is going to need maintenance at some time or another.
Besides, aren’t those sprayers you mentioned made from plastic? -
