Here are some pictures of a demo we did for a ranch here in south texas. We are waiting to hear back from them, but the pictures speak for themselves. This tile is primarily found in the Southwestern United States, or at least I think. Here you go, as promised.
Tell me what you guys think?

November 16, 2006 at 10:38 pm #148087FL18ParticipantYes sir, just one. They have about 1500 sf total. This was just a demo to help get our feet wet and then when they are ready, we will finish it off. Yep, it is dried. All they have to do is maintain it, basic mopping, dust mopping, etc and it will look “wet” for 6 months to a year depending on amount of traffic, and if they maintain it as I mentioned above. Thanks for the kind words. Only one pic because it was just a narrow hallway. Hope all is well.

November 19, 2006 at 7:50 am #148089FL18ParticipantI had to use an outsourced product with corporate permission because our products have never been used on this type of tile, usually found in southern, southwestern united states. I cleaned, sealed and used a finish. It looks great. I appreciate the reply and comment. John at corporate recommended against using our products to be on the safe side. The products used were made for this particular type of tile, also known as Mexican tile. Some people call it terrazo. It is highly porous and drinks up product but results are excellent and justified with charging a good dollar amount for it. I am currently in negotiation to do the rest and am waiting to hear from the client if price is accepted. The products used work on all types of flooring but in fairness to corporate and because of the binding contract we have with corporate, I will be using Heaven’s best products on other types of tile in the near future. For now though, I plan to use this product on this type of tile because I see it in the majority, 75 to 85% of houses and businesses I clean. Probably has to with the culture here in South Texas, which is 95% hispanic/mexican- american/mexican. You would probably see a lot of this in Arizona, Southern California, New Mexico, Nevada. I don’t know that for sure but it is popular down here. I am about 1 mile north of Mexico. This tile is fairly cheap but expensive when purchased and installed due to 3 inch gap in between for the grout. Why so big, I don’t know but it sure does look nice. You will notice in the pictures how wide it is between the tiles.
Thanks again,
Mike 😀

1. Clean/Buff
2. Tile and grout brush (handle brush provided by corporate), to clean grout real good. Very tuff because grout is so wide but yet another justification for price.
3. Apply seal with a mop. (2 coats) 30 minute dry time in between coats.
4. Apply Finish with a mop. (2 or more coats depending on how porus tile is) 30 to 45 minute drying time in between coats. You will notice this is very similar to the process used by Heaven’s Best.
