Hi All!
We are getting ready to sit down with the phone book advertising people and were hoping that maybe some of you wouldn’t mind sending us copies of some of your ads (new logo’s of course) with different sizes if you have them handy. I would really appreciate the input. Sending via email is great, fax (570-894-3254) or even snail mail would be fine (51 Locust Lane, Tobyhanna, PA 18466)
Thanks for your time and maybe some day I can return the favor!

go to the ftp site. You’ll find all the ads you need there.

Their business is to sell – so is yours! Your biggest seller is personal references…..not yellow pages! I think presence is important, but my caution to anyone is “don’t get ‘oversold’! You can use some of those ad dollars elsewhere! I feel yellow pages are more of a convenience to customers looking for you – or those who may have been told or exposed to the name, and need a reminder by seeing your logo & ph#. I’m convinced, you can help your yellow page guy make a 100k this year , or you can help yourself first!

November 16, 2006 at 3:44 am #148073Larry youngParticipanthey Ron, you saying a larger size is better then a smaller add with color?
November 16, 2006 at 4:42 am #148074AnonymousInactiveExactly, ad size is the better buy when it comes to attracting customers. I’d rather be number 2 or 3 with no color than number 6 or 7 with color. Once the “shopper” has seen your ad it is up to your content as to whether or not they will call you. Content is KING in YP adverts. Oh, if your YP’s are small you may be able to get a smaller ad with color and pretty much be amonst the big boys. You’ll stand out more. If you’re in a huge book, then go with size. Remember these few things when creating your ad
1. Headlines are HUGE!
2. Key selling points.
3. Keep it simple.November 16, 2006 at 1:27 pm #148075Larry youngParticipantThanks ron have a great day
November 16, 2006 at 4:06 pm #148076CJonesParticipantI agree with all those good tips! And stay strong with the sales rep – some of those guys are really “pushy”!
November 16, 2006 at 5:39 pm #148077FL18ParticipantYep, I’m about to strangle this lady from the “user friendly phone book”. I appreciate their efforts and understand the attempts to sell, just as we sell our services. I do, at least, here what they have to say or sell because you never know what they have to offer and the potential benefits but don’t call me 5 times a day, you know. Good info Ron.

December 19, 2006 at 7:33 pm #148078pachecoParticipantOur 1/2 page ad looks very, very nice…our placement went to the bottom in the Verizon book however.
Chem dry took out two full pages in color and jumped to the front of the listing and then another guy named Spotless…misnomer- we get his customers regularly took out 1 full page, and then the #1 guy in town with a 1/2 page as always ad and then Stanley with 1/2 page and then us…whew…then everyone else.
I can’t even imagine the fee for 2 color pages…mega$$$$$
Home Depot probably helped just a tad…
The ad looks great though and is as good as anyone could want…
thanks Cody!!!!
December 20, 2006 at 3:44 am #148079hbottumwaParticipantDave, Things are not always as they seem. I don’t think home depo will be helping much with operators ads. Even though Chem’s have a new owner the old one only shelled out 2% if they aproved the ad. They paid for it (the 2%) with the franchise fees at about three times the price of HB fees. When I was a chem’r it was very clear, that they cared about them 90+ % of the time. Don’t get me wrong. Chem Dry was a good company, but only looks at the francise owners as cash cows. From my experience, they don’t give a rip about the guy doing the work. Heaven’s Best has been a night to day company for me. I am greatful everyday I found Heaven’s Best. Sincerely, Thanks Cody!
December 20, 2006 at 10:49 pm #148080CJonesParticipantWhen I researched franchises – that was exactly what I found out about Chem-Dry also! We are VERY fortunate in Heaven’s Best! I am proud to be a part!
