I cleaned a house today that had a lot of pet stains (they glowed under the UV light) I treated with our pet enzyme, let it dwell for 15-20 minutes, some of the stains disappeared immediately, others still showed the stain. After telling the lady some of the stains were not comming out, she told me she had used Resolve on some of them. I have heard that Resolve could actually set a stain. Anyone had this issue?

December 31, 2009 at 1:59 pm #154090AnonymousInactiveI HAVE NOTICED ON THE SOLID BLUE OR RED CARPETS, THAT AFTER THEY USED RESOLVE ON THE PET STAINS IT SEEMS THAT SOME OF THE DYE HAS COME OUT LEAVING THE YELLOW DYE, WHICH MAKES IT LOOK LIKE THE STAIN IS STILL THERE. ACTUALLY THE STAIN IS GONE JUST THE COLOR OF THE CARPET HAS BEEN CHANGED.
December 31, 2009 at 11:08 pm #154091AnonymousInactiveI have found that Resolve does the following to carpet:
It sometimes works without any problems
It sometimes does nothing
It sometimes, more times than wanted, will set stains
It sometimes, more times than wanted, bleaches the carpetFebruary 1, 2011 at 1:02 am #154092AnonymousInactive@David Phillips wrote:

Yeah I’ve had this problem since I’ve been in business. Resolve can definitely set the stain. What I found to be an even bigger nuisance is Spot Shot, which can the spot black.
February 8, 2011 at 12:53 am #154093AnonymousInactiveover all resolve does not resolve much. they usuually almost in everycase spray it on,pour it on,and leave it on,and then wipe it .resolve dwells in the carpet and that causes causes a reaction in the carpet between the stain, and resolve product.because it was never extracted properly.also it depends on the blend of yarn in the carpet, nylon, polyester, and grade of nylon, which there are several.lots of tangibles.i say to them DON’T use resolve, but if you insist flush it out with an extraction unit of some kind with water . please use vinigar and water, 😀 call us,so your carpet is not permanently damaged in that area. give them the heavenly advise

And yes, pet urine attaches itself to the primary dye of the carpet, so even when you get the urine out, regardless of what products have been used, there is a chance that the carpet may appear “bleached out” immediately after extraction. This is normal and most usually experienced with carpets that have a medium or darker colored shade to them, but can sometimes be seen on really light carpets too. We have experienced this first hand.
It’s a good thing to educate the customer about over the phone, before you actually come and enzyme the carpet, so they know what to possibly expect and so you don’t get blamed for the unexpected lightened area and a change of carpet color from a beautiful deep forest green or royal blue hue to bright yellow.June 20, 2014 at 4:06 am #154096NJ05ParticipantI no longer take urine jobs unless they have very few isolated spots, I feel it is something I no longer am willing to put up with. When customers call and say they have urine spots , I tell them first thing that the chances are 50 / 50 and unless it is a repeat customer in good standing, I send Stanley, Servpro or ServiceMaster operators their way. I figure I would rather spend time cleaning cleaner carpet and get the results I am looking for. Not to say you can’t make good money at it if you have the equipment, I just choose not to.
