I’ve got a rental property that has a stink and I can’t get rid of it. I have Kilzed the walls, Cleaned the carpets ( glue down), and wiped down every inch of the house and still stinks. Anybody used or had any luck with ozone machines. If so what should I look for in purchasing one? Thought if they work maybe I could make a little extra money renting it out.
Thanks,

You may want to check into a rental center before you purchase your own. You can get a small unit for a few hundred dollars and larger units can cost into the thousands. Ozone generators are effective for destroying odors. A smaller unit will work well in a car or individual room. Most will have a timer so you can set the machine and leave it. There are some health risks associated with using the ozone generator in an occupied bulding.July 6, 2010 at 7:53 pm #154459Ca22ParticipantAs Cody stated there are precautions that are associated with Ozone machines. If you do decide to purchase one don’t buy a cheep one. Home depot supply and a few other places sell them for $200-$300. These will break and stop working after a few months to a year. They don’t put out a high enough volume to work in large areas. A good ozone machine will run between $800-$1200. We rent ours out to customers for $85 a day/or job depending on our schedule, and convenience for picking it back up. We never leave it in an occupied house/rental. When using Ozone machines the place has to be vacant of all people and pets. If you do a lot of commercial work and rentals it can be a good revenue generator. We probably rent ours out 40-50 days of the year. We have had the same machine for the last 7 years and it just went in for service for the first time($347).

It also has an away mode settings that generates ozone. Its suppose to me good up to 2000 sq. ft. I also use it for some rental properties that i do work for. I payed about 600 for it 5 years ago and just recently had it services for 200. I would suggest it. I believe you can find a deal on one at airpurifierrepair.com.
