What do most of you have for options in these new vans I’m looking at them all right now I have always been a Ford man but for the money, chevy seems to have more options also do most of you get sliding side doors or double side doors. also window in side door or not any info would be great 😀
February 8, 2007 at 3:28 am #148766hbottumwaParticipantKim, Today I called the Rexburg sales rep at (208)356-4455. Ask for Steve. We went through some options.
1. I went with the all wheel drive because of the winters here and slick roads.
2. I went with the CD w/ AM FM radio for $165 more.
3. I went with the chrome front & rear bumper, I think $60 more.It comes w/ cloth seats, power windows, push button key chain unlock. AC, cruse, cage, and racks. Plus the logo raps for $26,131. In addition, the extras listed above. The full details will be faxed in the next few days! I asked about % rates and he said most were going between 7 and 8 %.
Note: If you get the all wheel drive it comes w/ the 5.3L engine, however the rear heater & AC are not available. Only on the rear wheel drive.
Hope this helps!

The base price for the van is $22,185.00. Gordon’s is higher because of the all wheel drive and other options.Feel free to contact Steve Parkinson at Erickson Pontiac here in Rexburg. He assigned to our account and can give you all the information. You are under no obligation just because you call him.
Just as a side note, I think our van we gave away with the nice wheels looks much better than the plain wheels. We got the wheel at Les Schwab for about $1,000.00

February 8, 2007 at 7:08 am #148770AnonymousInactiveThis has been said before, but can’t be said too often. When shopping for vans make sure to take into account size (length and height) if you have to garage your van.
I like the sliding door on the vans over the side double doors. Makes it easier in my opinion to get things out of the side of you van if you have to park next to other vehicles in a parking lot at any of your accounts. If you are doing mainly residential and something like this isn’t a concern, then I don’t see much difference other than windows. If you go double doors, get windows if possible, especially if you run 1 person vans. We run 2 man, and I can’t tell you how many times a day I ask my employee riding shotgun if I’m ok to back up when pulling out of parking spots, certain intersections, etc. because I can’t see that side.

If you are in cold climate, the rear heat is a must. I live in northern Iowa and I know the things in the back would freeze without the heat.
The new vans doors come without inside finish panels. If you want to have that finished look on the inside, make sure to note this when you order. I did not know this and when I open the doors, I see the hollow steel skeleton. Ordering the panels after you get the van is quite expensive.
I would also recommend the electric locks.
February 8, 2007 at 5:46 pm #148772UT18ParticipantWe have been working with Steve in Rexburg this week choosing options for our new van and hope to get the order in today or tomorrow. Yeah!! I am able to park my Ford van in the garage now but have always had a slider on the side. I don’t believe the slider is an option on the HB van package. I did get a look at the van in Las Vegas but didn’t see how far the doors open up on the side, can someone comment on this? We agree that it’s hard to find a better deal anywhere. Thanks Cody, we are looking forward to the transition and a great year to come.
February 8, 2007 at 7:55 pm #148773AnonymousInactiveOn average, Chevy’s are taller than Fords, and I think AWD makes them even taller if you go that route. My Ford E-150 fits in my garage, but I don’t believe the Chevy will. Check and double check heights, and lengths, especially if garaging your van is vital.
Good points about opening doors in your garage and the inside finished doors too.
February 8, 2007 at 11:05 pm #148774HBplantcityflaParticipantSpeaking of cold climates……. We ordered our van before there was a good deal with the dealer in Rexburg. Let me tell you, I had them put eurathane fome on the inside of the van and it helps soooo much. I have gone into a job when it was -30 outside for 3 hours and come back afterwards to a fairly warm van. I also have AWD, rear heat, and an engine block heater. I went a little more and put a junction box in to be able to run electricity to the back of the van. When I bought it, we didn’t have a garage. I plugged in the front of the van for the engine block heater and had 2 space heaters running in the back. The electric bill was about a 100 to 150 more per month, but It was only for about 3-4 months. So if you live in a cold climate like me and have any questions, please call me 907-357-6840. I am not a cold weather expert, but I can sure try to help you out.
February 8, 2007 at 11:27 pm #148775AnonymousInactiveAnna,
When the side doors swing open, you need about 30″ just to fully open them. I think the total width with the side doors open is around 110″.February 8, 2007 at 11:46 pm #148776UT18ParticipantThank you for all of your input. We’ve measured everything and the van will fit in the garage, thank goodness!! So the order went in today. I must confess that after many years of lugging the equipment in during winter we built a new heated garage which is a blessing. We’re not as cold as AK but recently it has been so cold that I bring everything into the house I’m working in if its more than an hour or so this way I don’t have any surprises. Live and learn. Now I have the new van to look forward to in the Spring!
February 9, 2007 at 12:25 am #148777AnonymousInactiveHey Anna, You are going to love the new GMC, everythng is so organized now, the shelves make it so easy, everthing now has a place. we love ours.
Denis
PS Choose SAR in Concord for the logo’s! They did a great job.
I have been approached by so many people about the new van and logo’s and the one comment I hear most is “WOW”
Things are looking up!
February 9, 2007 at 3:28 am #148778UT18ParticipantHi Denis,
We are planning a meeting with SAR in Nashua beforehand as it is closest but if we’re not satisfied we may go up to Concord. We’ll let you know how it works out. I’m glad you are enjoying your van and hope business is growing for you. We have enjoyed it here in So. NH for 14 yrs now and plan on having a great year this year. This is the coldest time of year but this soon shall pass.
Best Wishes from the South, NH that is. We missed you in Las Vegas.
