Today I am doing a bunch of carpets and cushions at home, these carpets and cushions belong to 4 of my regular customers. In this day of hardwood floors more and more folks are using area rugs and they do not want to have them cleaned on their Hardwood floors, I do not advertise this but I find I am getting more calls to either pick them up or if they could drop them off, I charge them just a little bit less and I get to tune out to Aerosmith while working! I am thinking about adding a room to my garage in the spring and advertise this “new service” I call it new because no one around here does it.
Anyway if there is any feed back out there bring it on!!

I charge 2.00 per sf and up and include the cost of the delivery. Actually I just plan pickup and drop off around times when I have a job near by. People here also have alot of rugs and hardwood floors, so I stay fairly busy. The best part of it is that I can clean the rug in my spare time and not have to SQUEEZE it in between jobs. I havent advertised this anywhere, but it may be a good idea. I usually just try to sell them over the phone by telling them that I provide pickup and delivery at no extra cost.

Also depends on how bad they are. Go to google and type in how much to clean an oriental rug and do some research. I can’t remember the site off the top of my head but I found out I was pretty cheap. Currently for rugs that I pick up, frop off we charge as follows:
Small area rug= $95
Mid size=$125
Large=$165
Xtra large=$225These are still reasonable prices for oriental rugs compared to most. As far as the wal-mart brands or oriental knock offs we will usually clean on site depending on surface of floor but I have considered bringing them all in and dropping off. Hope all is well.

I’m with the guy in Alaska. Charge more not less! My shop is always full of rugs to be cleaned. We tell our customers that we will not clean them on their wood floors cause it might scratch or discolor the wood underneath. So we roll them, load them up and take them back to the shop for a very thorough cleaning. All the while rocking to the tunes of our choice. Sure maybe not Arrowsmith, but something loud for sure. Gord thinks, and I agree, that we will start bagging them and wrapping a nice ribbon on them for their return. Value added services.
