I like the new look of the franchise. The new website doesn’t begin to reach the new standard that we are trying to achieve, however.
Also, it shouldn’t be up until the most important feature is operational. If a customer visits the site, they have no way to get info on their local operator since that estimate area is under construction. Please, replace this newer version with an operational version until the site can function properly.
June 20, 2006 at 12:53 am #146830AnonymousInactiveTyler,
I just looked at the new Heaven’s Best home page. I noticed a couple of glitches:1. In the statement
“We’re the experts in cleaning commercial and residential carpet, upholstery, tile, hardwood floors and grout!
the words “tile” and “grout” are separated and should probably be together.
2. Quotes — the same statement needs a closing quotation mark.
It would read better as follows:
“We’re the experts in cleaning commercial and residential carpet, upholstery, tile and grout, and hardwood floors!”
Thanks,
Mike
June 20, 2006 at 2:26 am #146831tx45ParticipantI personally think that Residential should come before commercial. I also agree tile and grout should be together.
June 20, 2006 at 3:51 am #146832AnonymousInactiveI agree with Jeremy. Look of the new website is very disappointing in comparison to the level of the other changes. No “wow factor” at all, and actually more of an “ugh” factor in my opinion. Like the previous site look better in comparison. The black/grey border really takes away from the appearance of the site due to it’s size in comparison to the “meat” of the site (graphics, words, etc.), especially on the “home page”. The part that jumps out at me the most is the “own a franchise” line and I think that is because it is almost square in the middle of the page. If that is supposed to be the main purpose of the site, then maybe changes aren’t needed, but I have a feeling that is not the case.
Also, the “click here” spot doesn’t take me anywhere. Mouse doesn’t even allow me to click there.????? I would prefer the site be 100% operational before making it live.
Is every operator required to give a free estimate? It says “free estimate”, but I believe some operators charge if they have to go to the customer’s house to give the estimate and don’t clean at that time. We don’t charge, but with gas prices as they are, we do everything possible to not have an “estimate only” visit and we don’t give firm quotes over the phone.
June 20, 2006 at 3:54 am #146833AnonymousInactiveI agree Jeremy. I have been amazed by everything thus far, But when I saw the website I was majorly disapointed. This needs major improving.
June 20, 2006 at 1:15 pm #146834AnonymousInactiveI used to create websites for a living (well for a partial living) When I first saw the site i thought that it was one of those templates you can purchase from Monster templates. IMO, if we are trying to compete with the big boys then we need to have the big boys of web design creating our website. If you are not paying at least $4-5k to have a site built then it’s probably not going to compete.
June 20, 2006 at 3:34 pm #146835pachecoParticipantSomeone should proofread the website…it is not good at all…even the franchise section looks very unprofessional. A buttton says (What it Cost) instead of (what it costs) with an s. Little things like that are huge to higher end customers who are supposedly who this is all being done to target.
June 20, 2006 at 3:35 pm #146836Dan ChildParticipantThe website changes are out of my hands. The glitches will all be worked out.
We were not planning on having the site updated “live”. The plan was to update it completly on another server and then switch the DNS over to that server. Yesterday the developer started working on the live portion, and by the time we noticed, it was easier to let them continue than to try to reverse thier actions.
Everything should be done and fully functional within the next 24-48 hours.
The operators only section is up, so that you can still place orders.June 20, 2006 at 5:14 pm #146837Bret WootonParticipantAside from the proofreading that needs to be done, the entire content and appearance of the site should be reconsidered. As was stated earlier, it looks like a site that a high school kid put together from a template that was downloaded from yahoo. I don’t mean to insult anyone, but it really does look like an amatuer site.
With the new logo, which I think is a big improvement, the graphics on the site should at least try to accentuate our newer, more professional image, rather than just wrapping some graphics around the old site and calling it good. The photos aren’t very appealing either. The before and after pics show a shiny carpet in a room with wood panelling? That creates a dated image, not high end at all. The other photos should show modern rooms and furniture, not flowery 90’s bed spreads. The worst part of the site is the testimonials, however. These home movies should be removed and replaced by written quotes. These videos look coached and are very poor quality. These are not things that I would hope to see on the site of the nations fastest growing carpet cleaning franchise!
Also, let’s try to move away from all the text and move into some bullet points when explaining our processes. When you pull up a service, all you see is a large field of small font text. That’s not very sales friendly and someone shouold have advised the site designer of that. The content of the text is another issue. I’ve lost a few customers that expected me to clear out rooms for them, moving entertainment centers and bookshelves because our website says that we will move furniture. We’ll move some furniture, but please let us make the decision whether or not to advertise our moving of furniture.
On the other side of this coin, I do like the upholstery picture of the modern looking couch and the picture of the office in the commercial section. In the commercial area, I would like to see a bullet point stating that our equipment is portable so we won’t be dragging hoses through 3rd story windows.
All in all, I’m happy with the decision by Cody to enforce some standards of appearance and professionalism, but for my franchise, this web site doesn’t keep pace with the image that I’m trying to convey.
June 20, 2006 at 6:07 pm #146838AnonymousInactiveTyler,
OK, it’s out of your control for now. Thanks for updating us.Please pass along these items or hold onto to them for when you are able to make updates:
– On the Cleaning page, this phrase, “Heaven’s Best professionals are also experts in tile, hardwood floors, grout and more!” needs to be changed to put the words “tile” and “grout” together. This same problem is on several other pages.
– On the Cleaning page, the letter “b” needs to be capitalized in the word “best’s” in this phrase, “All of Heaven’s best’s professionals are bonded and insured for your protection.”
– On the Cleaning page, the heading “Cleaning” is a different color from the other three headings.
– On several of the web pages, the wording is off of the screen to the left and you can’t get to it.
– On the Carpet Cleaning page, this phrase, “Cry-In-One-Hour” needs correcting.
– On the Upholstery Cleaning page, “You’ll also be amazed at how quickly your upholstery dries (times vary upon fabric type).” needs the word” depending” to be inserted before “upon.”
I suspect the entire site will need a thorough review after is updated completely.
Thanks,
Mike
June 20, 2006 at 7:02 pm #146839MRwisdom12ParticipantI copied this from the Carpet Cleaning page on the new web site:
Carpet Cleaning
Heaven’s Best’s Cry-In-One-Hour carpet cleaning removes soil and
stains that other cleaners leave behind.First, our powerful dry vacuum system removes the loose soil. Our
exclusive cleaning solution then penetrates carpet fibers and
gently loosens trapped soil and stains.Next, our powerful buffer, specially designed with absorbent pads,
gently lifts away soil and moisture. Finally, we groom the carpet fibers to look and feel like new.
Read the first line, Heaven’s Best’s Cry-In-One-Hour! Gotta admit it made me laugh out loud!
Have a great day!

Agreed
I would assume that the corporate website is more for attracting potential franchisees than for our customers. Seeing that that is the case, I am not as much concerned with the appearance of the site. However, I do think that if Cody is trying to take the company to the next level then the corporate website should not be taken lightly. I’m not sure if you’ve seen CD’s website or SS’s. They are ok….we need to be better than just ok. Our website needs to kick some major butt!!
June 21, 2006 at 1:45 am #146841tx45ParticipantThe new site is for our customers and for potential franchisees-it’s just that the site is not complete. I myself am not completely happy with the site but I did speak with Cody today and there are changes occurring. It’s still a work in progress. Keep your fingures crossed and hope for the best.
June 22, 2006 at 2:43 am #146842pachecoParticipantKeeping fingers crossed and hoping for the best is not very comforting…
This may be one of the very few websites, other than homemade, that does not have the credit given on the bottom of the pages for the designer’s company name. They always put it there for credit and to show off to prospective clients… Kind of like an artist signing their work.

Actually, the higher the profile site, the less likely you will have credits for designers. Most pages that have the designers name on them are cheaper sites bought by individuals. Generally the cheaper the site, the more likely to have a signature at the bottom. Go have a look around, google, yahoo, ebay, http://www.chemdry.com/ , http://www.stanleysteamer.com/
