I have the new BBC Pads and have noticed over a little time the pads have strips now (dark & lights). Has anyone seen this? My older pads look better then the newer ones. I have also noticed the newer ones are starting to come apart at the edges too. The older ones last alot longer.. I think.
Is this do to the pads being make with recycled material? Am I going to have to spend more money on these pads and replace them more often? Has anyone ever had this problem? In the pic the darker shaded ones on the right are the newer ones and the middle left one is older. All three are clean & get cleaned the same way.
April 24, 2010 at 7:58 pm #154355AnonymousInactiveHave never seen this problem. It may be interesting to know what the home office thinks.
April 26, 2010 at 12:45 pm #154356HeavensbestspokaneParticipantI thinks so… If the pads look like this and fall apart sooner 😕 … It will cost us more. I like recycling, but sometimes there is no benefit. Cost or longevity. Hope someone knows something or can give some good direction.

April 27, 2010 at 3:33 am #154358AnonymousGuestI just ordered some BBC pads over the weekend and was concerned when I saw this post. I recevied an email today saying the pads are on back order….
April 28, 2010 at 1:54 am #154359AnonymousInactiveI like dealing with American companies because the quality control has been very good. However more and more things are being produced in China and the quality control leaves a lot to be disired. One of the major pad companies we use are now having the pads produced in China. We have noticed that most of the pads are great, but then we will get a few that are not sewed correctly, or some that they have used some strange fabric in the manufacturing. Some of the BBC pads start out white, and then turn brown like the ones Mike Caldwell is showing. We have tested the brown pads and they work great for cleaning carpet, they just look very strange compared to what we are use to. They are lasting every bit as long as the white pads that do not turn brown. As always if any of you get pads that do not last, we will replace the bad ones. Just let us know and we will take care of you. Having said that, we want to be fair with you and we want you to be fair with us. This is how it has always been.
The pads that turn brown start out white, but after a few washings they turn brown. It is a strange thing look wise, but the pads do clean the carpet just fine
The hoover vacuum cleaner is now produced in China. We have had a few quality controll issues with a couple of them during the last six months. As more and more things are out sourced to China, we will see more quality control issues. We will continue to stand behind these items and replace ones that are not working properly. Together we will work through these problems, but just because something looks a little different does not mean that it will not work properly.

Thank you for the explaination. I do have issues with some of those pads coming apart at the edges.Also.. Is something going to be done about the future of these pads. There is a consern about taking pads that look like this into a nice home and telling a customer that my equipt. is going to make there carpet cleaner. I do rotate my pads and take the better ones in the nicer homes, but when the newer pads start looking like this. Then what?
I’m just trying to find out if I’m the only one with is problem, and what needs to be done to keep this from recurring.
HELP!

April 30, 2010 at 3:19 pm #154361AnonymousInactiveI agree with Mike. Appearance is crucial with our method when it comes to pads. I’ve had a customer say she uses us because our pads are so clean. Heck, appearance is crucial period. Whether my vacuum/buffer/van is clean or dirty doesn’t affect how well I clean carpet. It does affect my phone though. Perception is reality. Just my 2 cents.
Oh, also read that Hoover was sold to dirt devil a while back(year or more). Hope they don’t mess up our conquest.
May 1, 2010 at 12:30 am #154362AnonymousInactiveI keep about 8 regular pads and 8 woven turfs separate from the rest for certain special occasions. Same with towels.
Don’t use the BBc as I find them too aggressive for all but the oldest carpets.
FYi the new blue micro fiber pads are fantastic on berber and low profile cut pile carpetsMay 2, 2010 at 12:36 am #154363AnonymousInactiveGreat point on the micro fiber pads. They are awesome on the typical commercial carpet. We have cut quit a bit of time using them for commercial jobs.
May 4, 2010 at 4:29 am #154364AnonymousInactiveNot all of our pads are white. The new micro fiber pads are grey and they are working very well. Most of us are use to the pads starting out white. Over time all of these white pads become a little dingy looking. Pads do wear out and need replacing. Most of the BBC pads are still white even after many washings. The ones that turn brown after a few washings are still good pads and they look normal to the customer. The brown pad does not look dirty, it is just not white. The new micro fiber pads do not look dirty, they are just not white, but they work very well. The brown BBC pad works very well also.
May 6, 2010 at 8:55 pm #154365HeavensbestspokaneParticipantI have the miro fiber pads Love Them!
The problem I have had with the BBC pads happen shortly after I bought them (with in a month or so). if you compair my old pads and the new pads… the older ones hold together better and do not discolor as bad or as fast. My concern is… what is going to be done about this issue, so that it don’t continue. I don’t want to buy pads that are going to do this in a month.
I do keep back nice looking pads for the nicer homes, but as time has gone on the older pads are looking better then the new ones. I know that over time they all will discolor, but I just want to know what the fix is before I buy them again. The BBC pads in my area work great and i like them. Also, I don’t know if the miro fiber pads can replacing the BBC pads… I use the MiFi Pads as a finish pads or touch up pads .. works great and the carpet is pretty much dry. ” I have not tried them on commercial carpet ..Good point”
I would just like to know what to do about the BBC pads.
ANY HELP?
Thank you~Mike
July 2, 2010 at 11:22 pm #154366KY13ParticipantI purchased some bbc pads about 6 months ago and they’re awesome. The old pads collected a lot of “lint”, these new ones dont have that problem so I ordered another 6 of’m. Just recieved them a couple days ago. Now i’m scared after reading these last couple of posts. Also the new micro fiber pads work real well too. Watch out for the stair micro fiber pads though. They clean really good but dont hold too well to the drive plate. It’s a REAL pain in the @$$.
August 7, 2010 at 4:35 am #154367AnonymousInactiveI have noticed this also with some of my pads as well. I started using a new box of pads and notice they are falling apart after 2 or 3 uses. I ordered the new micro fiber pads and started using them today. By just looking at them I can tell that these pads will hold up alot better and when you wash them….no fuzz/lint on them! I used them today to clean carpet and they work great….love them and it seems they clean better too. 😀
February 1, 2011 at 12:56 am #154368AnonymousInactiveI haven’t had too many problems with the BBC pads but have with the microfiber carpet bonnets.
