One can not ignore however the widespread problems of installation. Whatever the price is, whether you believe is too little or a lot, there is a nationwide problem with installation. I’m sure corporate negotiated in good faith with a franchise to avoid this inconsistency – but I’m afraid we need to change to a different sign franchise! It also does not make me a bad communist operator for saying so!! ha 🙂

Corporate has informed me that a new project manager is on the case and the Wrap/stickers will be made and installed at the SAR. Hopefully this will all work. A little dissapointed in the ha comment. How old are we now. I give up. I’m just going to continue to do my thing and help people on this wonderful tool we all have. Thanks for the reply anyway.

How in the world anyone expects a quality job with wind, dust and one man doing the installation is beyond me. How they got my sons van almost perfect is proof that it can be done..maybe calm day.
I might consider going to my other instaler and paying her to fix bubbles if SAR cannot. I have to pay, but it would be done right. She is a perfectionist and has a garage. Not $1200 anymore.

There are just too many factors that would affect the end product. Even in the best of controlled conditions, these larger vinyl sheets are a challenge to handle.
November 15, 2006 at 8:50 pm #147743pachecoParticipantBryan,
The local guy in Lancaster does his in an alley, the guy in Harrisburg does his outside as well according to Andrew Musser…bummer.
November 15, 2006 at 8:54 pm #147744CJonesParticipantSorry if I offended you Mike – it was meant ‘tongue-in-cheek’. And I’m the grand old age of 47….. man, now I feel old!
November 15, 2006 at 10:11 pm #147745FL18ParticipantI was just doing some good ol picking on a fellow Texan. No harm done. Hope all is well. We can only control what goes on in our own lives I guess. To comment on the outside install post above from Dave. If you knew the guy did it outside then why let him do it the first place. Whatever floats your boat. Maybe there was no where else to do it. I don’t know. God bless all of you.

November 15, 2006 at 11:44 pm #147746pachecoParticipantWell…good question. I did not know when I took the graphics that they did not have a garage behind the building, then I had also paid for the installation in the package, and three I did afterward ask my other installer and they would not touch it…though, I am going to have SAR remove bubbles and replace the front panels as necessary. The thing that gets me is I paid them for the old vinyl removal because I had the thought that if I or smeone else had removed it and there was a problem they could point a finger to them or me saying I didn’t do something right. This way, the problem is all theirs.
After we get over this hurdle, we will never, ever use SAR again. If i have damage to the wrap, I will have someone else patch or reinstall…not SAR. They are costing me money…
November 16, 2006 at 6:30 am #147747FL18ParticipantHow much was it to have old stickers removed
November 16, 2006 at 10:42 am #147748pachecoParticipantI believe $150 per van. Ithought I would be avoiding potential problem by having them remove… Personally, I don’t believe these guys have a clue. How are bubbles going to disappear? The are caused by trapped air feet away from an edge.
November 21, 2006 at 3:16 am #147749hern7146ParticipantWELL here is another HORROR story. Had my logo’s installed this past weekend by sign a rama . I went and picked it up sunday they said they would leave my key in the van NO KEY then I inspected the logo’s well there were bubbles in the creases and spots that they cut holes in it to release the air. Then on the passenger side the big logo must have been messed up so they must have printed another one and put it on top of the old one?? stuck out like a sore thumb. Then they left me no instructiond for care so the van was dirty from driving it to them in the rain so I decided to take it to the car wash because they only cleaned where the logo went and it looked horrible!. So I figured if I went to a car wash that is brushless everything should be ok NOT. The piece that they put over top of the wrap to cover up their mistake started cracking and peeling. So I called them and the guy says to me you can’t wash your van like that anymore once the wrap is installed. So anyway they are going to fix it even if they have to replace the whole side which is what they should have done the first time!! Well I will keep everyone up to date with this mess not to mention the closest sign o rama is 1 hour 15 minutes and $6.40 in tolls away 🙁
November 21, 2006 at 3:57 am #147750FL18ParticipantDid you give them an overview of your expectaions for the logos? I’m just curious. Sorry to hear about that. I hope mine turn out better.

November 21, 2006 at 5:03 am #147751pachecoParticipantMike,
What do you mean by that question…regarding his expectations? Not quite sure what you are driving at….
November 21, 2006 at 6:17 am #147752NJ05ParticipantI HAVE SEEN WORK DONE BY OTHER INSTALLERS WITH THE SAME OUTCOME…I AM THINKING IT IS THE MATERIAL THEY USED FOR THE LOGOS??? I THINK I WILL LEAVE MY VAN ALONE…IT LOOKS REAL NICE WITHOUT ANYTHING ON IT….ANY BUYERS FOR MY LOGOS????
November 21, 2006 at 3:33 pm #147753FL18ParticipantDave–I’m suggesting that he and those of us who have them installed in the future, talk about the work and look of the van as it becomes a final product or what it should look like when it is done. If they get it right the first time they save you time and money as well as themselves. Their work will also be a driving billboard for SAR’s company. If mine look great when they are done, I will be happy and in turn, drop SAR name to all my commercial accounts–which makes up 60% of my business today. That’s what I am driving at there. I have ordered mine and am just awaiting the call to install. I will let the local guy know all these things and if they get it done right, I will push his product like my happy word of mouthers do. Thanks to everyone for the replies. Keep ’em coming.
