Tim, the logos and van wrap will blow away your expectations.
Everyone else, what we got as an international franchise was a $10,000 design and van wrap that is costing you $1200! It is a real bargain with HUGE upside!
I can’t comment on Sign A Rama or any other installer, but if they are confused by the words “wide format printing” maybe look for another installer.October 28, 2006 at 5:37 am #147725tx45ParticipantLet me start off by saying in my business I expect the best and nothing less. Those of you who have met or worked with me know that. With that being said, here’s what I know about the new van wraps. Both my vans(Ford full size) are wrapped and they look awsome. If you get up close you can see a few flaws in the install but from a couple of feet away you cant. I also know that other national franchise logos, up close, look the same if not worse. The wraps are quality-It really comes down to you the operator, makng sure that whoever you have do the install knows what they’re doing. Since I have made the transition to the new wraps, my “van” lead source in quick books has been 4x greater than the previous couple of months before the switch. Not only that but the wraps have already paid for themselves-both vans! There is no reason everyone shouldn’t make the change. It will only increase your business. I’d go as far as to guarantee it.

I can’t agree enough with all your comments about logos, I’m riding with all my people for a day before the end of year and my man in Brandon was the first operator in FL to change over, They (sign-a-rama) got the wrong DPI and had to send out new ones to him. You get more than two feet away and they look absolutely great, (a few tiny bubbles that could develop on any vinyl job) He said it has increased his calls daily. He plans on new ones installed later next month, the present ones are not hurting him at all.

I just placed my order for the van logo and I am very excited. Hearing all the positive feedback got me pumped up. I realize there could be some small problems but the bigger picture is what I see. I was also going to order a new van but I will wait till spring when I feel I will need a second van anyway. Plus The one in Vegas has my name on it already.
Doing GREAT in NY
Joe MartinganoOctober 30, 2006 at 9:42 pm #147728AnonymousInactiveHold on Joe . . . I bought a one-way flight to Vegas so I could drive the rig home!
We changed over the logo on our ’03 Astro van a little bit ago. Yes, there were some things that needed to be attended to. No, it’s still not perfect but I have built a good working relationship with the applicators, and they are trying hard to make me happy. Yes it cost a lot of money. Yes the change is very, very positive. I receive compliments on it every single day, and that’s no exaggeration. Our new van will go for logos on Thursday.
Just as with everything else, if we feel it’s important enough, it becomes a priority and we find a way to do it. We made the change over a priority and are glad we did.

November 12, 2006 at 4:40 am #147731FL18ParticipantSome help here. I am fixing to purchase the logo pack. What should I go over with installer before having them done, or is corporate going to do this. Silly questions I know, just want it done right. I can handle the little bubbles, i had them on the old stickers. I also want to know what you guys did to get off the old ones.

November 14, 2006 at 2:33 am #147732HBPuyallupParticipantTo get the old stickers off use a heat gun i’ve heard works great. Go to a pawn shop to get one. Heat them and they SHOULD peal off. I am normally not a negative person. I do try to be optimistic as much as possible. I took a look at a neighbors Toyata Prius that had a complete wrap. Not a single square inch of paint was exposed. I saw no bubbles and wrinkles only on the rounded edges and they were small. I know were not perfect and I ‘ll be the first one to admit that, but when I see a complete wrap and the installation looks better than mine I start to wonder. The only reason I looked the the car was to compare the installation. I did take my van back and I know have stress marks on some areas and they tore a little hole in it. All this said the van looks AWESOME and I’m proud try drive around town and I even do a double take sometimes when I go into a store. I would really hate somebody to say “this is the first time I had to clean my carpets after it had been already cleaned professionally”. A story I was once told. My second van will installed by my neighbor’s company even if I have to pay the extra for installtion because the company is not a national franchise.
November 14, 2006 at 3:22 am #147733FL18ParticipantThanks for the info. I appreciate it. My opinoin made on misc. was not aimed at necessarily one person, but some. I would be pissed to. But I also have the right mind to realize that it is the installer, printer of the logos, not corporate. Thanks again for the info. I had a smoke and am feeling a lot calmer now. I just think that someone had to say something. Again, this a tool to help eachother, not hurt or degrade one another. Thanks again.

November 14, 2006 at 7:46 am #147734Ca22ParticipantI just took the old logos off of one of my vans. I am very lucky that an uninsured motorist with out a licences side swiped the entire drivers side of the van. The entire side had to be replaced, and one of the back doors. Why do I call myself lucky ? I only had to remove only half the logos, and my uninsured motorist is paying for the new logos to be installed this week. It still took me three hours to four hours. I bought a heat gun from the paint department at home depot. Get 3-5 plastic scrapers, large goofoff, towels, and some beer you are in for the long haul. I suggest starting with the clouds and the smaller lettering. The large lettering (where I started) is false advertising. It comes off pretty easy. All in all it was not that bad. Or that might just be the goofoff talking. I am sure glad that lady hit the van with the old logos, and not the new ones.
Good luckNovember 14, 2006 at 8:47 am #147735AnonymousInactiveGreg
Goof-off and beer?
See you in Vegas man.
November 14, 2006 at 3:58 pm #147736FL18ParticipantThanks for the info. I may have to save the beer part for when I’m done, or might remove a window or something. Thanks for the tips guys.

November 15, 2006 at 12:33 am #147737pachecoParticipantMaybe $1200 is not a lot of money in Canada…but it is in Lancaster County, PA…to us..and times 2 vans messed up is now $2400. And I have looked at other vans and autos and by golly…they do not have the massive air bubbles that we have running down the van indentations…or the 1/2 ” gap up front on my van…just waiting to tear or rip…And then who pays for that? MOI?
I have experienced 3 call backs in three years, 2 in the last month from my son’s jobs.
Poor workmanship is not acceptable. And unfortunatley, across the country it is the same story.
I am lately told by Tom in Florida that they are replacing the Dry in 1 Hour vinyl that was off color (orange) and fix my bubbles…we shall see. the weather has to cooperate since this is all done outside.

The quote we received up here was $2200 x two vans. I am saying that if anyone went out and hired someone to build a wrap that you imagined in your mind that was as nice as ours, it would cost many thousands of dollars.Lean hard on the installers. It is a tough job, but can be done to various levels of quality.
Stand back and admire your van. Everyone else in town is. -
