I am new to the carpet cleaning arena, and I have been having some challenges in deciding which pads to use. Up to this point I have been winging it well, but a little education on the types of pads for different jobs would do me well. For example:
Best types of carpet for…
thin white pads?
BBC?
Woven?
Turf?
Dirt Napper? Also how many times do you go over the floors? I have been spraying according to the soil… then go over with the selected pad. Usually most of the carpet in that area is near dry by the time I complete the room or area. If not, I go over with a thin white pad.
So two times does it for me usually, and many times one time with the right pad.

Yes some types of pads work better according to the type of carpet. However there are really no set ‘rules’. What I use may be quite different than what someone else uses. That being said, I’ll pass on our proceedure and hope it helps. We use our dirt napper with the regular green stripped pads on 75% of our jobs 1st. We always follow with a BBC or woven turf (sometimes both according to soil level), and most of the time finish with a towel. That towel tells me if I’ve gone over the carpet enough. If the towel is really soiled, I will towel it the second time or rewet slightly and go back to another pad.
Commercial work; we always dirtnap with green striped pad and follow with woven turf or thin white pads. A lot of the time we will do both. We seldom use towels on commercial work. A lot of commercial work, you would towel for a day and still the towel would be very soiled.
As I discuss with my employee, the end result is what we’re after. Clean carpet and the happy customer is the goal. How we each achieve that goal can vary.

I tend to find that the thin white pads work well on berber, belive it or not. Can’t go wrong with BBC or Regular green turf pads. Thin turf pads work well on the really dirty edges. Welcome to the greatest family in the world.

Thanks for your support, and I will be calling you all soon.

If you just started out the franchise then get your feet wet with all of them so that you get comfortable with a certain kind. I would hate for you to order some pads to quickly find out you might change your mind. You really can’t go wrong. The solution and your hard work are what produces the best results. Well, the pads are a big player, but you know what I mean. Hope all is well.
God Bless,
Mike
