I have always believed in putting a good quality pad under carpet for a variety of reasons. When customers ask for my opinion on new carpet the one thing I always recommend is not skimping on the pad. I have a neighbor that wanted new carpet in their basement and they asked for my opinion. I looked at the samples they picked out and gave them my thoughts on each. I left them with the advice to not skimp on the pad. Come to find out that they decided to NOT replace the pad that is more than 10 years old. I didn’t say it to them but I think they’re making a mistake. Am I wrong?
I agree. The pad is very cheap compared to the price of the carpet and/or installation, not to mention the TIME & EFFORT to remove everything and move it back. As far as saying something, I’d pass. Dumb people make dump mistakes, it’s their choice and they already made it.
No, I agree I’m not going to say anything. However, it’s going to be tough not saying anything in a few years when they are complaining about how the carpet is wearing out too fast. Also, on a side note, I’m curious what a carpet manufacturer say about any warranty if the pad is not new?
