May sound funny, but I have to tell you I’m impressed! My wife is also a teacher (1st grade – brave woman) but recently decided to become a Mary Kay consultant on the side. The other day she was showing me some of the resources available through their website – it is amazing! Under a tab called “Business Tools” she came across a complete customer organizer/data base. She literally was able to begin entering into simple fields some of her potential customer’s information. By doing so, an email was automatically sent from the company introducing Sharie as a new consultant with her contact info and the latest sales info/brochure for them to look over! This service is available for no charge – and it will send them emails regularly. She can also request postcards with sales info and a special message be sent to any or all of her customer base for 40 cents each – these are nice cards too and the whole thing is done for you. This kind of central corporate data base management of customers through the website looks ver-r-r-y interesting!

Also forgot she was able to set up her own website – to which all of her customers are steered through the advertising emails, etc. Her customers then can place orders directly through her ‘window’. Very nice set-up and for her first year only 25$ which is half price. Her own site will then cost only 50$ per year. Customers are driven to her site through the main site. Graphics and layout are corporate controlled for uniformity but she can add things to customize her messages as well. They have really perfected the personal networking system up-to-date and we all know this is indeed OUR strongest form of gaining new customers as well. I think we should study what this company is doing and perhaps try some of their ideas – hey it’s worth a look!
