Has anyone advertised on the back of any store receipts like king soopers. I have received numerous calls of the years about this. I have never done it. I was wondering if anyone has done it. If so are you still doing it? What were the results? I have no idea the about the investment involved but I just would like to know if it has worked for anyone?
Matt, I have sat down with our local advretising rep who sells the space. She explained all about how it will build business, etc., etc. She told me the cashiers are supposed to hand the receipt to each customer with the coupon side out, which I told her they never do. Anyway, I asked my wife, who does the shopping and clips coupons every
Sunday, if she ever looks at her grocery store receipt for the coupons. She never does. I never did it.
I just got a call today from a Safeway rep and he did not want to tell me the costs on the phone, just kept trying to setup a meeting at a local Dennys so I passed on the idea.
One bit of advice I keep hearing from successful small business owners is never advertise based on a phone call. Develop a marketing plan and follow it so I am trying to follow a rule of always say thanks but no thanks and just hang up and stick to my plan.
Typically this is usually a very expensive way to advertise. I’ve investigated this method several times and always came to the same conclusion – doesn’t produce the bang for the buck! Better off using direct mail or newspaper inserts!
I am going to give it a shot. 350.00 for 40,000 coupons over a 3 month period. I haven’t got my proof yet but it is suppose to start in May. People are really price consious right now and coupon clipping is going up. What didn’t work 2 or 3 years ago may work right now. At least, I hope!
