Ron, I too find this interesting.
I have also wondered, that after the steamers clean, the carpet is stiff & crusty. When we clean the carpets feel soft & fluffy.
Does this have anything to do with the encapsulation or lack of it?
September 13, 2007 at 6:49 am #150580FL18ParticipantI feel, Neil, that your thirst for knowledge should be directed to the comments and complaints sections of the website. I guess my customers don’t ask because the carpet looks, smells and IS clean. If there is a residue, then so what. Your everyday household water from home has Chlorine in it, not to mention whatever other chemicals are put into tap water. Consider that your hoover vac may have some dust and dirt remaining in it from your jobs. Unless you wash the cloth bag on a daily basis, then you will have stuff left in your vacuum. One of your recent customers may have used carpet fresh. That stuff gets down to the padding and is a very fine powder. My wife vacuums our carpet everyday with our hoover and even after I wash the cloth bag dust will be in the cup regarless, even after using 101 on a freshly washed cloth bag. I live at sea level here in south texas with high southern winds on a constant basis and this contributes to the dust getting in the house or maybe my doors and windows need re caulked or something. Not to mention the immense amount of skin cells you shed on a daily basis. Pets don’t help with the dust and dirt either. We have two dogs that come in and out several times a day through our doggy door. The point is, so you have found something that concerns you. Call Cody, John or post a complaint or comment. Your “findings”, Neil, in my opinion are reason for worry for some of us, new or veteran operators/city owners. We need to have faith and belief that our products are the best and that there is no problem or flaw with products they use and believe in. The bulletin board is a place for help, learning and yes—concerns and comments about the everyday running of the business. You sound and seem to doubt what the cleaning solution is doing and when asked, just simply tell them it’s a non-toxic cleaning solution with no sticky residue or no oily residue. I admit, there are times I know the carpet feels “crunchy or hard” after we clean, but have also noticed it will not do this on some carpets, and it will on others. Maybe, just maybe, this could be attributed to the type of carpet it is. My experience has come to find that the carpet feels fluffy about 95% of the time. Now, back to no sticky or oily residue, ok, so there must be a residue; don’t most chemicals or cleaning solution have some kind of residue, maybe. All I know is that since 1983 this company has been cleaning and providing cleaning products that work or else you and I wouldn’t be here. I tried it today, and had no “dirty powder” nor did my finishing towel show any dirt or grey color, it was as white as before I cleaned.
Below is a paragraph from polymerconcepts.net under the Our Products tab on left side of this web site. I typed in encapsulation products in google and found this.
“Encapsulation chemistry cleans better and helps carpet stay clean longer…by surrounding each soil particle and then crystallizing it so it does not attract other soils. The encapsulated particles release from the fiber and are easily extracted with normal vacuuming. And since there’s no dirt attracting residue left behind, the carpet stays clean longer.”
So, maybe this is what your looking for. Now that you have the answer, if this is the answer, then so what. 101 works and hopefully you are telling customers to vacuum on a regular basis if this is what you believe. Keep in mind that this website is selling a service or products as well. This is there “big” selling point and means nothing in relation to our cleaning solution. 💡
I would be down about it also, if I saw it for myself. Untill then, I will not question nor violate my trust with Heaven’s Best. I think Cody does not have to respond to your concern on this bulletin board or any forum unless he saw fit to do so because of two simple words Gordon mentioned in an earlier reply
“trade secret”. When customers start complaining, then I will worry about it. So far, of the 200 plus customers I have cleaned for in three years in the biz, not a one
not one—has called to have me come back nor to complain. Want to know what problems I have with our system? I haven’t found one yet. 😀Mike Nowlin
September 13, 2007 at 2:47 pm #150581Tn02ParticipantOk, Mike.
I find your whole post to be overly defensive and somewhat ridiculous. There is absolutely nothing wrong with 101 being an encapsulation cleaner. In my opinion it IS an encap solution, and it makes me think even more highly about the effectiveness of our process. I have had a handful of customers ask me if they should have their carpet hot water extracted after a couple of Heaven’s Best cleanings to remove the residue. What am I supposed to tell them? Call 1-800-STEEMER? I have also had potential customers ask me the same question.
I had a question about our solution, not a comment or complaint, so you can do the math on that one. I also felt that having my question answered publicly may benefit other operators who have run into the same situations I have. I didn’t get my question answered so I did an experiment and came to my own conclusion. The residue in my vacuum was not dirt, I know the difference.
For one reason or another Cody has chosen not to be a part of this discussion. So be it, I came to my own conclusions. I applaud Gordon, as a state owner, for participating.
There is no doubt in my mind that 101 is an encapsulation product, and there is also no doubt in my mind it is the best encap product money can buy.
September 13, 2007 at 2:54 pm #150582AnonymousInactiveMike you need to be spending more time out building your company than injecting your “opinions”. With your long post there; whom are you trying to convince? You or us?
September 13, 2007 at 7:46 pm #150583FL18ParticipantNeil and Ron,
I decline to continue this discussion. Thanks for your input.

September 14, 2007 at 12:43 am #150584AnonymousGuestI agree with Neil & Ron; I too feel the board should be used in a more productive way of communicating about ideas, questions and suggestions without having to resort to personal attacks. We don’t all have the right answers and keeping this forum as an “open communication” vehicle without long, complex responses might serve more beneficial when trying to run/grow our business.
September 14, 2007 at 12:46 am #150585AnonymousInactiveYou guys clean your own carpet? I can’t afford to hire myself at my current prices so I just find someone running a really good special and use them.
(just trying to lighten the mood here)
September 14, 2007 at 1:43 am #150586hbottumwaParticipantSo…
Dave, how much an hour do you charge yourself, and how much are you currently indebted to yourself?September 14, 2007 at 2:05 am #150587HB2003ParticipantI find the whole encap thing very interesting. If this is the case, this allows us to further educate our customers on the difference between us and the soakers.
September 14, 2007 at 2:07 am #150588AnonymousInactiveWOW!
September 14, 2007 at 2:30 am #150589pachecoParticipantThis has been incredible and very enlightening….
September 14, 2007 at 2:58 am #150590FL18ParticipantPersonal attacks huh? WOW is right. This must be way over my head or something.
September 14, 2007 at 3:10 am #150591pachecoParticipantWow is right….thanks Mike, I never knew about the edit tab before…cute trick to pull on someone. Almost worked…will speak to Justin tomorrow about it…
September 14, 2007 at 3:20 am #150592FL18Participantjust read everything above Dave, regarding Neil and Ron.
September 14, 2007 at 3:41 am #150593AnonymousInactiveAll I am saying is don’t come across as the authority on something when you are not.
Mike, first, don’t come to the discussion with, “What are you guys talking about”, and then reprehend someone for posting a question or a comment about a subject you know nothing about and then proceed to all of the sudden become the authority on. And also what is this?

What the heck do you think he’s doing?

No one said they didn’t trust our products.
Dude, just tone it down a little.
My mother used to say, “Don’t talk just to hear yourself talk”.
