Cody,
I don’t know if you want to get this from Perma Plate officially or not for the sake of all the operators. We were supposed to clean the upholstery of a vehicle today, but when my guys got there the upholstery was in horrible shape due to customer neglect and they had no access to power to properly clean the vehicle, so my guy told him we’d reschedule when we could properly clean it. My employee then called Perma Plate and asked them how they want us to handle situations like that as we would have to charge a lot more than a service call. They told him in situations like that to tell the customer that this is an inspection only and that we would report back to Perma Plate and then let Perma Plate deal with it from there. There is a box you can check on their form that says Inspection Only (under Results of surface reconditioning and/or cleaning:). They did say we could charge for the inspection call. It would be nice to get something in writing from them just in case the person he talked to (phone was cutting out so he didn’t get their name) was wrong in the info they provided him. We don’t come across many vehicles in this condition from Perma Plate, but this is not an isolated case and the last thing I want to do is ruffle their feathers for a high bill, or likewise for turning away a job they think we should have taken on. I believe their warranty is for “spots” that the customer cannot get out, not for detailing a vehicle that has not been properly cared for. (seems like common sense to me, but sense is not that common in this day and age)
Thanks,

I have done a lot of Permaplate claims. They have no problem paying a minimum charge. When I clean 1 or both of the front seats I charge my minimum of $100 or more if they are very stained or require additional work like ink removal. You could have the customer call Permaplate to add the additional stains to the work order. Many times I will remove an extra spot or two if it only takes a few minutes. Permaplate has been great. I cleaned a car a month ago for a nice lady who owns a Gym. We have since cleaned her Gym, her husbands jewlery store, and for 3 other referrals. Not bad 5 jobs so far off 1 Permaplate. I have done about 50 Permaplate claims so far and have had no problems with anything up to this point. I hope they keep coming.

July 19, 2011 at 10:20 pm #155164AnonymousInactiveI do charge extra for red dye removal on the carpet. I have done a few of these. Mostly everything else I can remove with 101. I have only had to use other products on a few claims and I did charge for the work I did. I do try to keep the price reasonable since I want to make sure they keep sending the work.

July 20, 2011 at 12:39 am #155166AnonymousInactiveSo far I have not had to. I do scrub the seats pretty hard if needed and have been able to remove most everything with the upholstery mate.
July 27, 2011 at 4:41 pm #155167AnonymousInactiveOk, I just got off the phone with Mellisa Gerard from Perma Plate. She talked to her supervisor and they said that even on the really dirty vehicles, we should still be attempting to clean them up to the point where we think we’ll hit around 3 hrs total of work (or $200-$225 range for the job). If it will require more than that, then we should be turning them back as inspection only. She said on jobs like these that we do clean that are extremely dirty, that Perma Plate will send a letter to the customer stating the conditions of their warranty and such afterwards. Anyway, hope this helps.
