I was talking with a Heaven’s Best operator this morning, who has a cousin that has been in Chem Dry for 9 years. The last 4 years has been management (paid salery). He went to an IICRC training to get certified to do stream cleaning. At the end of the section a question was asked “What was the hottest carpet cleaner out there?” The answer came as a shock. “Right now the hottest carpet cleaner out there is HEAVEN’S BEST”! There wasn’t a person in there that was from Heaven’s Best. The place was less then 25% Chem’ers. Life is good!

February 20, 2007 at 2:29 am #148851FL18ParticipantThat is what’s great about that “protected area” we all have. Hopefully these guys will buy up Heaven’s Best franchises and we will take over the world one carpet at a time. 😉
We need to bring them to the Force, away from the dark side. he he.

I like your spirit. How is it coming along? It sounds like you have passion and energy, the rest is easy.
November 5, 2007 at 2:44 am #148857KY13ParticipantHey Laura. Things are goin ok I guess. Only been in business for a couple of months, maybe expecting a little too much. I’m sure I’m doing quality work because all of my customers tell me so. But so far in the two months I’ve been in business I’ve only had two customer referals. I’m starting to think my customers are lying to me 😥
November 5, 2007 at 3:34 am #148858AnonymousInactiveEvan,
Don’t be afraid to casually and politely ask you’re customers if they would mind send their friends and family you’re way.November 5, 2007 at 5:00 am #148859HBplantcityflaParticipantHey Evan, don’t beat yourself up man! If you are doing the best possible job that you think you are, things will work themselves out. If you will do something each job to make the customer feel special, they will refer you, I have been in business 2 years now and there are some customers that are just barely sending referrals my way, but it is better than last year, and I expect it to continue to grow.

I remember calling myself just to make sure my phones were working. Your customers are probably talking to friends and family, they may not be ready for cleaning just yet. Keep it up and make sure you make contacts everyday. Realtors have been my number one source of referrals (outside referrals from repeat customers). Last week (on Halloween) we made our routine visit to 8 real estate offices and dropped off orange donuts, pens & cards. I have received several calls just to thank us & have already booked 4 jobs just from our visit last week. Remember each office has approximately 50-100 realtors.
You have to be hard on yourself to be successful. Peace out!

I give them a large spotter, 5+ business cards and one magnetic one. as we are doiong the final walk through i head my way back to the kitchen, exoplain that the bottle is my gift for them for refearing there friends and familys, Business cards and a spotter are very inexpensive. then after our normal chit chat I shake there hand thank them again for there business and refearals. well you have a GREAT day.
PatNovember 6, 2007 at 2:09 am #148862KY13ParticipantJust want to thank everybody for your words of support. Like I said I think I’m expecting too much for being in business for such a short period of time. I bust my butt on every job I go to, am polite, professional, and make sure I do atleast one thing to make the customer feel special on every single job I’m on. I know sooner or later my phone will be ringing off the hook, it would just be nice if it was sooner than later!!!!!!!!!!!!!
