I So this has never been an issue in the 11 years I’ve lived on the coast, but this year we have cold and tons of snow. I have several commercial customers wanting to know if I can remove the white stains from the salt, on their carpets.
Any of you winter people have any insight on this?
    Tks

I have seen slight cases of this and extreme cases. Obviously, the slighter cases are the easiest. Salt is a mineral that easily dissolves in water but if it is dry, it can be brushed with a stiff brush then vacuumed up. Always try to remove in the dry state because when water is added it will become invisible. Too much moisture will result in a wicking problem.

Summary: 1) Brush & vacuum till your sick
    2) Utilize a LMCC process.
    3) Set fan to speed drying time.

In extreme cases, wet the rim of your glass, rub the rim on the carpet and fill w/ tequila.

I see alot of salt issues here in cleveland, ohio……I use white vinegar on my commercial accounts and let it dwell for 15 min before extracting with 20 to 1 or water.

Acid Rinse should help. 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water as Mark wrote. And Brian’s suggestion of brushing and vacuuming is good information also.

if there are no spots prior make sure you vacuum very good.if you dont you will have white spots when dry and then you have to fix it.if spots or stains present i also vacuum, then scrub, then vacuum then scrub. alot of commercial account will have this present.vinager is also very good to use also .some very smart operators out there. i once had to tounge taste to see i it was salt.that was a jewelery store with white stains thruout.now i know.dont do this with urine though.
