Today was the 4th time I cleaned this lady’s carpet. That is a good thing I know but the problem is the dog. The 1st trip we made to this lady’s house there were over 30 or more pet stains. I didn’t want to use a blacklight to see how many more. We chared her accordingly and she can afford it trust me (house is 4500 sq ft.). My deal is that I continue to tell her that it wouldn’t be as bad if she would get the dog trained or keep him outside. I know some people just love their dogs to bits but come on. Dog’s name is snowball by the way. I told her today how much it would be if she didn’t have all the pet stains. She looked at the dog as if his pissing days were numbered. It’s hard for me to tell people about their pets staying outside or to toss when they love them so much and I don’t want to piss off the customer. How else can you put it you know. So, I guess home office will get a pet enzyme order from me here pretty soon right. My back and knees are telling me to kid nap the dog. Just kidding by the way. Oh well, I guess it’s better for the business side of things.

May 24, 2006 at 2:39 am #146475AnonymousInactiveI just flat out tell them what it’s going to cost and they usually don’t go for it. I don’t care how much $$ we can make doing pet urine, I just don’t want to do it.

Huge home, movie theater room, etc. Huge lot/yard, fenced yard with doggy door into gated pen in the garage. They have a hunting lodge in South Dakota and have many labs. Labs sleep in the son’s rooms and continually pee in the house. One time, we weren’t cleaning the hall, but were cleaning one of the bedrooms (dog spots) and there was a big dog pee spot in the hall next to the door. We asked if she wanted us clean it, and she said no, just get it the next time when I have you clean the hall. ????? We were fighting a no win battle and they finally got new carpet…….and the dogs are still pee’ing on it. Some customers either just don’t care, or are just too lazy to do anything about it. As long as the (large) checks don’t bounce, I guess I’ll keep cleaning up after their dogs.
One other thing, protector is usually an easy sell on these people as, let’s face it, they really need it.

June 30, 2006 at 1:42 pm #146480UtaatuParticipantRegards to the posts on charging extra for pet accidents. When I tell the customer it it will be extra & then also tell them that the only 100% way to get rid of it is to replace. They say then why are you charging me extra? I have done my share of urine stains ive tried every thing everybody suggests and then some I cant see charging extra for somthing that does not work. Any help?
June 30, 2006 at 2:14 pm #146481AnonymousInactiveWhat makes you think it doesn’t work. It works for me.
June 30, 2006 at 9:20 pm #146482AnonymousInactiveEvery pet stain is different, so there are instances where just the pet enzyme gets the spot out no problem, and other instances (like yesterday) where you can literally pour the pet enzyme, concentrated orange deodorizer, and concentrated fresh scent on the spot, give each adequate dwell time, extract, and still have odor (no color problems as carpet was olefin). I would say to change your approach and just let the customer know that every spot is different and you can never guarantee that the spot will be complelely removed. Some times it will be, some times it won’t. Either way though, you are spending time/product on the spot, which requires you to charge extra.

Replace floor and / or sub-floorif needed. If only a little bit use kilz on the floor (use resperator). If you don’t Know … you’ll find out. They make a kilz 2 which is water base but not near as good. Wait for kitz to dry, replace with new pad, treat the carpet again and and strech carpet back in place. CHARGE ACCORDINGLY! Repeat as needed! Hope they don’t sell the home to another dog owner and give you as a referal and say “they make things look like new”
