Ok, maybe not a problem as much as an opportunity.

I’d like everyone to call this number (877-763-4789) and then post your comments. I will post my comments in 2 days.

I personally perfer a live body to answer the phone. As far as a message intro- they sure have distaste for telemarketers that is projecting negitivity. I might add, don’t get burnt by Burns carpet cleaning!

Sounds like a fast talking used car dealer! Who would really take the time to listen to this windbag? Ron, you’re safe. No one will listen to this long enough to get an impression either way. I have become tired and nauseated just listening! Blah, Blah, Blah!!!!!

I listened for 6 minutes 56 seconds before I hung up–learned a few things, but it was all propaganda to promote what he was selling (making the other guy look bad so he’d look good). If I had been a consumer calling to schedule an appointment for carpet cleaning, I wouldn’t have listened a minute. I don’t think we have a problem!

I really don’t think a customer is going to sit on the phone the entire time listening to everything he has to say. I think it’s rather unprofessional for a phone recording. If you’re going to provide a customer information like this, put it on your website.

I agree w/ what’s been said, it seems like he’s trying to scare customers in to using him……I’ll pas this on to Cody and Holly and see what they say about it.

Hey Ron, where are you? I was anxious to hear what you thought about this.

    Sorry, I’ve been busy.

I have been a HB franchise owner for two years now and I know how to use this system pretty well. I also know the HWE system very well as I’ve worked with that system in the past. I know the pros and cons of both system, and yes both have cons. I love this company, the staff, my job and my customers.

As we all know HWE Company’s will say that we are surface cleaners, and that the manufactures recommend only HWE. This last part we know is true. HWE companies use scare tactics to persuade people to use them.

It is my opinion that we low moisture cleaners need to better educate ourselves of our own systems and also HWE systems. We need to be able combat the questions that we are asked regarding our method of cleaning. We ALL need to be on the same page as to why our system is better. We have a corporate standards manual; and I think we should also have an “education manual”. One that gives us all a powerful weapon that can be used to grow our business. One that gives us the intelligent, well though out, educated answers to questions we face everyday. I challenge the corporate office to lead the way.

I think that corporate does an excellent job in providing us with a great system and cleaning products, great marketing advice and wonderful customer service. We need to add to ourselves a better understanding of what exactly it is we do and why we recommend our cleaning method over others.

In the beginning when I started I was on the phone with other operators and on the message boards picking the brains of all the “old-timers”. I was feed information of believed “facts” about HWE. I was told that HWE can damage the backing of carpet and I used that information when talking with people on the phone. To be honest I have no idea if that is true but it came from one of our own. So I used it. I was told that HWE breaks down stain protector and again this may be true but I honestly have no idea first hand. It sounded good so I used it.

Sometimes I feel like the robot Jeopardy nerd who has all of these useless facts but no system in place to facilitate it. I feel sometimes like I’m just spitting out random answers to questions, “Alex, What is, yes HWE can cause mold to grow under your carpet”.

I’m sure you all remember back when you first started out, that first phone call where the person on the other end asked you to explain your system and why it is better. I’m sure you froze up with fear in deciding how to respond. I know I did, and I do sometimes to this very day.

You really hit the nail on the head with that post, Ron. I have spent a lot of time the last few weeks reading third party evaluations about different methods and what they all have to offer. I have also lost jobs because either people can’t grasp the concept of cleaning without extracting, or I can’t grasp the concept of explaining it- Or worse, I’m trying to sell something I can’t really explain, because I have my own doubts sometimes. I talked to my state owner about this, and I spent time on these boards. It would help a lot if I knew more about HWE. Ron, I think you made some great points, and greatly appreciate feedback from everyone else on this.

As a side note, I talked a mold inspection company about HWE and I was told it can cause growth under the carpet. I didn’t tell them I was a carpet cleaner, but I do wonder if they just wanted to sell me a $600 inspection.

I agree with you Ron. It’s always nice to have some factual information in print to back up what you’re saying. Maybe it could be a part of the manual that operators get when they attend training. For operators who have already been to training, maybe a supplement that could be downloaded and printed at home would work. What do you think corporate?

John Steiner is on the board of directors for the LMCCA as a representative from Heaven’s Best. Currently the LMCCA is in the middle of producing a non-biased DVD showing most all carpet cleaning systems. When this is finished it will be used to help educate on the differences of each system. The LMCCA is striving to educate consumers, manufactures, distributers, and carpet cleaners that low moisture systems are needed in this industry. We are hopeing that the DVD will be ready sometime this spring.

That’s great Cody. The DVD will be very helpful to all of us. I’m looking forward to learning more about all the different processes. Thanks for your reply.

To answer one of Ron’s and Neil’s questions, Yes HWE can cause mold under carpets, I’ve seen it first hand many times in my cleaning days in Florida!!!! I will not bore you with all the experiences but one in particular comes to mind, I started vacuuming a berber carpet and the fibers were coming apart and winding in the beater bar, I stopped and asked the customer if she had any other cleaners in her home recently and she said “YES, Father and Son carpet cleaners appx. 3 months ago and not happy at all (that’s why she called me, saw my Dry in One Hour Ad), They left the carpets soaked” I asked her if I could pull back carpet in area behind couch and she said Yes, to my surprise I found black mold on wet concrete floor and the glue and jute backing had been rotting on backside of carpet.
    Hope this helps!!!!

    Ron,
Your right. I have seen the same situation with emergency water extractions. The backing was just shedding from the carpet.

I have gone behind some of these “wam bam” HWE cleaners. The home owner calls me in 4 days later, to a house that reeks of mildew.
The home owners, and their homes, got soaked.

DVD – That will be a great teaching to for our employees as well.

    Hi Rick,

That was a good post because I kind of forgot about that post in Dec. of “06” telling us we were going to get a DVD from LMCCA. I was at regional LMCCA meeting in May 08 in Orlando FL. and heard nothing about DVD!!!!!!
Maybe they have one and I have not heard about it, I’m sure my people in Florida would love to have that DVD.Maybe John can post here and let us all know the status of that DVD.
