I have been doing this since the first time the dirt bag clips broke on a job. Get some black duct tape and wrap it around both clips near the top where they tend to break. I know duct tape does not look its best but black tape does not show. I have had my clips for over 3 years now. Some of you veterens may already have a trick. I hope this helps for all the new operators.

In our opinion, the best course of action is to change systems to the bag. It eliminates the puffs of stuff to atmosphere, the mess and any problem. Can also offer a higher degree of filtration with the proper bag. Regular bags are incredibly cheap (the better ones are more expensive).

Enough people have seen the Oreck demo on TV of the cup emptying, to be turned off. Terrible system and has little use in anyone’s home. We never broke any clips, but I did bump the cup once and broke the seal…cup fell and I thanked the Lord for not being seen and aboe to clean fast…not a problem now.

    Just an opinion..

Most of us tend to get angry when our vac fails. But the reality is: My vac has already out lived me. Just think about it for a moment…
How many jobs per year does your vac do for you?
I don’t know about you, but my vac does more in one year than what a residential vac will do in 30 years.
I’ve been to the doctor once or twice this year… and many, many times in the last 30. When was the last time your vac ended up on your examination table?

Mine tend to break on the lower end where the retaining ledge is.
This is caused by a “folding out” motion while trying to unlatch the cup.
This part can’t take alot of motion, and your actions must keep this in mind.

With direct management of myself and employees, in how we latch and unlatch the cup, we have drastically reduced this down to being an annual maintenance.

I have 2 vacs, and have only replaced 1 clip in the past 12 months.
It is the same as our bodies. Eat right, and exercise.
Then the only reason to see the doctor is for the problems of old age.
    Good Luck
