    Hey guys/gals,
I need some advice from anyone who is confident in their ability to remove the dark paths in high traffic areas (usually coming from the kitchen or garage onto carpet).

I have tried extracting before buffing, using 101 w/citrus booster. The results weren’t up to my expectations.
Also, this method takes alot longer, uses more solution and I feel should be charged a little more to do. But on the other hand it doesn’t seem fair to charge extra for something when I haven’t yet been able to get rid of the problem.

Is there a quick way to remove the dark area?

Is there a sure fire way to remove the dark area, and approx. how long does this proceedure take?

Thanks for the advice, see ya in Vegas.

    JM,
I have experienced good results using our fast acting enzyme (FAE) on those dark traffic lanes. You have to mix it up when needed – not ahead of time – so it takes a few extra minutes. Read over the instructions and give it a try.

By the way, we had a fairly long discussion thread on this subject a while back. You might want to search on “traffic lanes” and read the past posts. There were varying opinions about what works best. After reading through the ideas, you’ll probably want to try a couple of different ideas until you find what you like.

    Good luck!

Fast acting enzyme is worth it’s wieght in gold! Mike is right as you spend some time mixing it, but you will save time in the long run and produce far better results. I use an empty 1 gallon jug to mix it in and set that jug into the power sprayer to apply.
    1) spend plenty of time w/ the vacuum in those areas.
    2) apply FAE right away then bring in your equip. (15 min. dwell)
    3) use dirt napper or BBC, wooven turf and finishing towel
    4) quick boost and/or citrus boost can be added if needed.
    5) you will find that charging extra is not needed. Keep in mind you are also cleaning areas of carpet that need only one quick swipe. It will average out in the end.

TGP works as well, but too much hassle to extract as it is sudsy. Go with Mike and Sutton’s tip and you’ll do fine.

Fast acting enzyme is a must for grease traffic patterns out of the kitchen. We had this discussion about a year ago. Some said FAE, some strong mix of quick boost with cleaner mixed, and some with cleaner, quick boost, and citrus booster (water based solvant). I came to the conclusion that the products discribed work a little different in each area through out the countrys. Many minerals in the water, soil, or even clay like soil. Each take on a little difference for the best results. Sadly one product is not the best for each time and place. In my area, I found FAE for grease as statedabove. Also 1 1/2 gallons of regular cleaner in a 2 gallon pump sprayer, 1 1/2 caps of quick booster, mix well. add 4oz. of citrus booster, mix well again, pump and good to go. I use regular cleaner the first time over, some times it does the trick. I always finish with the regular cleaner sprayed the last time over to bring back the ph balance before going on to the next room or area.
P.S. Your results may vary. See owners manual for instructions. This is only to be done by an insured professional. Do not try this at home! Just joking, ha ha.

JM, For high traffic areas I rake first vacuum then apply FAE rake the FAE in then let dwell, apply regular cleaning solution, buff with napper then buff with pad then maybe spray a fine mist of juiced up solution then finish up with a towel. If need be I might go over it a couple times with a fresh towel. This seems like a lot of work but the results will make it worth while. Good Luck.

Hey, thanks for the great advice.

I’ll have to see which method works best for me, but at least I have a few sure fire things that other guys are doing (instead of me playing the mad scientist with my chemicals).

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and got what they wanted from Santa.

    Mike
