Has anyone tried a higher speed buffer with the latest HB hardwood products by chance? Just wondered if the higher speed made a difference when buffing out.
Thanks
Dan

Maybe I have not done it correctly, but so far I am underwhelmed. My wood floors are in pretty good shape but I was still expecting some shine. So far I can’t imagine a homeowner being satisfied with the results I am getting.
October 4, 2016 at 3:17 am #156228AnonymousGuestI have found the paste cleaner with the steel wool pads leaves a much higher shine to the floor but they are also far more slippery when you are through. When I clean wood floors with the liquid floor cleaner I stress to the home owner that what we use is strictly a cleaner and will leave little to no shine at all. I have found a few extra coats does help increase the shine.

If the finish is worn off, then the cleaning would bear little to no cosmetic difference. The key is to inform the customer of this. We very rarely get any complaints.

Awesome! Please explain your “tweaking” the process and how it improved! Inquiring minds what to know! 🙄October 7, 2016 at 7:29 pm #156233HB2003ParticipantSure thing…We found that by using more Multi-purpose cleaner on the floor (Heavier spray than just a heavy mist) then use a green pad to scrub out the floors, and right after that we extract the liquid before it has a chance to dry up at all (we now use a walk behind Wet vac with squeegee attachment. Or you could use a floor scrubber type machine). This process has made it easy to get a good deep clean and remove all dirt and residue allowing the floors to be properly prepped for the Blue wood cleaner/polish. We use the Blue pad to buff out. Even on what looks like very clean floors that are in great shape to begin with, the amount of dirt we remove is amazing. We just finished a $900 job and the customer was extremely happy with the results. As mentioned before, we make sure that we set the right expectations and let them know that we are not adding a new shiny finish or anything like that. But when they actually see the amount of dirt that we extract out, they are amazed.

October 10, 2016 at 3:35 pm #156235hbottumwaParticipantAwesome Dan! Thanks, I’m glad I asked.
October 10, 2016 at 3:38 pm #156236HB2003ParticipantNo Problem…Thanks
October 19, 2016 at 6:39 pm #156237AnonymousInactiveWhat is the difference between the blue wood floor cleaner and the wood floor cleaner in the white bottle?
October 19, 2016 at 11:54 pm #156238HB2003ParticipantAs far as I know, the blue stuff is the newest product HB carries.
October 20, 2016 at 8:07 pm #156239AnonymousInactiveWe don’t get any noticeable shine when using the wood floor cleaner. I just make sure to set proper expectations with the customer before we agree to do the cleaning. I always tell the customer “before you spend $300-$500 with me to do your hardwood floors, just know that we will remove dirt from the floors but the polish isn’t going to be a very glossy finish.”
I would rather have a customer say “never mind, we can skip the hardwood” vs having a customer angry that they spend several hundred dollars to have floors that look the same. That said, the people who do hire us to do hardwoods are usually very happy with the results even though I find them underwhelming.
October 20, 2016 at 10:27 pm #156240HB2003ParticipantReuben,
I agree that the shine is not really there, nor the purpose. Expectation management is the key. We do let see the extremely dirty water that we extract, and then they really become believers…
