Anyone using service magic as a lead generating referral service? If so, how well are they performing? Thanks for any feedback.

We are using SM and seem to get results if we call immediately after the lead comes in. We are only signed up for 8 leads a month. The lead cost is $11 & is usually someone ready to hire immediately after the inquiry. You may want to check with Jim & Barry in D.C., I know they generate a great deal of business through SM. The rating my office has with SM (4.5 stars) helps with our portfolio.
Hope this helps.

The 1st lead was not in my county,(zipcode for Walton County and part of Gwinnett County is the same) so I had to drop this zipcode from my area. SM gave me credit for this lead. Just recently I did have a lead for a small church, and it went for $789. Like Laura said, if you return the call right away, you usually get the job. I think they are charging me $13 for a lead and $19 for an exact match. Good Luck!

Tex messaging is important because they send out the referral to (3) three carpet cleaners. If you are the first to repond you are most likely the one to get the job!!!

I ususally hang up the call so I can get the text and see what I am dealing with. Normally the text comes before the phone call. Now I’m losing valuable time in between the call and text to call them rught away. Just wanted to know if anyone else had the same problem.

I dropped them as soon as the last credit was up. They were worse than a used car salesman trying to get ,have, and keep my business. I do understand that for some it works great. It was worth trying out for the few hundred that I did spend. I just did not like the drop everything and beg for the job mentality that it put us in.
March 24, 2009 at 4:17 am #152135AnonymousInactiveI have looked into ServiceMagic and just about everyone agrees that the biggest factor is your response time. The leads tend to go out to 3 companies so the first one to respond usually gets the job. The thing I keep trying to figure out is anyway to get a faster text response service then the rest of the guys.

Sometimes I feel like I am being ripped off when I never get to talk with the customer to offer my services because I was too slow to respond but overall I think I am reaching customers who I would not have gotten without SM so I believe risk vs reward is pretty good.
March 25, 2009 at 10:33 pm #152137AnonymousInactivei used them for two years 2004,2005,.started out great.you have to be quick to respond, but all quick responses will not pan out.i have talked to a lot of costomers and they said i was the forth, fifth ,sixth company to call, mostly after i try and there phone is busy for 20 min.wolud call costomer to rate us and they said they would and never would.i had 40 plus ratings also at 5 stars, which was awesome.but they raised prices twice, and leads became bad,and i would respond immediatley.this transpired over a summer in 05 and i said no more.they called me and still do to renew.if you have someone in an office,or your not swamped and you can drop everything you do at that time,it might work.good for just starting up ,or have the desk job.good luck

I used to have lots of luck in the beginning, but now by the time I get a job, I break even from all the leads I just ate. I have a smartphone, so when those leads pop up, I call within 1 minute and half the time I never hear back, even after sending an immediate text. I have 15 reviews all 5 star and got a special seal of approval when I went to cancel one time. Not sure how long I’m going to stay on board with them. 😥
