I had the first service done on our new Sprinter van yesterday, which by the way costs me about $90 to drive 900km, anyway, they added about $9.50 for “misc supplies” on a $200 bill, about 5%!
Many other business’ figure little ways to collect more $$$ with out a price increase. Be sure to add enough $$ to make a difference. Maybe not $9.50 but more than $1 or $2.
I think its a good idea Call it a Homer TaxApril 22, 2007 at 1:03 am #146290pachecoParticipantdumb question…$90 us or c $…just a little confusing if us $ and km mixed in same sentence for this non-km guy…
Thanks for the warm weather by the way Dennis…feels like spring! Finally
April 22, 2007 at 1:24 am #146291HB2003ParticipantDennis, you are right about the $$ add on. I currently do add $5 to $10 on for the jobs that are 30-45 min away. For the local ones here around town, I will probably just add a couple… Homer Tax – I like it!

I go about 2 weeks on a tank of fuelMay 31, 2007 at 8:40 pm #146294AnonymousInactivewhy are michigan gas prices .25cents a gall.higher than the national average.only michigan.2 vans gas was 1084.00 for the month of may,our gas prices our now 3.49.they were 3.69.on the water you pay 3.99. our govenor has not the answer.
May 31, 2007 at 9:49 pm #146295pachecoParticipantThe best way to nibble at the gas prices a little is to 1) slow down-we get better mileage even in a van at 50-55 than at 65-70 mph, 2) make sure tires are inflated properly, 3) don’t run air conditioning and 4) schedule tightly-from one job to the next. It will most probably get worse before it gets better…summer has yet to arrive!
We might research the web for more tips and better ones..

$3.49/gal. is very high, I would write or e-mail the govenor every day! We are paying $3.03/GAL right now which is almost $90/tank. We don’t have a choice but to relay the costs to our customers. Dave in PA, I will slow down but with the air conditioning on to cool down between jobs in this heat! I spent 14 years with no A/C and with the new van I must bring it on! Best wishes and good luck to you all!Anna

June 3, 2007 at 9:47 pm #146298CJonesParticipantBelieve it or not, it’s still $2.98 a gallon here! But I am happy I originally decided to buy a 6 cyl Express ! I go a little slower up the hills, but overall the good mileage is worth it. The price of gas should help make everyone realize you need to be fair with your pricing – but you need to not feel guilty about having to raise prices either! Every extra dollar you spend on gas and don’t recoup – you just took off your dinner table!
June 4, 2007 at 12:31 am #146299AnonymousInactiveJeff,
I can’t seem to get better than 16 mpg no matter how I drive my new van. What are you getting?June 6, 2007 at 12:28 am #146300CJonesParticipantIn town seems to be running between 18 & 19 mpg (closer to 19), which is very similar to our family car. With an 8 cyl, I’m sure it would be a lot worse! Maybe we should have all bought diesels!!! ha
June 11, 2007 at 10:55 pm #146301AnonymousInactivegas is now down to 3.19 make all the adjustments poss. govorner granholm says report price gouging.well i report everyone then, because everyone is charging this ,or within.10.,please.our prices are within the national average,.25 higher though!
June 15, 2007 at 9:44 pm #146302pachecoParticipantJust for the good of all…the ONE thing we all can do to help ourselves is to purchase gas or diesel at the LOWEST possible price.
Please go to http://www.gasbudddy.com and find your state, county and city and find the lowest prices reported…I am stunned at the difference. For the sake of a couple miles and a 10-20 cent/gallon saving on 20-26 gallons is money in my pocket, not theirs.
Hope this helps someone…it helped me.. I check every time I get low and fill up.

For every 100 dollars spent, we get a discount. One of the stores being Fred Meyer, has alot more than just grocerys, so the discounts add up really fast. Right now with the discount we are paying 2.89/gal. It has kept me sain, but if it ever gets to be over 3.00 with the discount I may visit other options.
