While a lot of computer in the past came with Microsoft Office, its becoming more and more common to only have a free 90 day trial of office on the new computers. For those of you who weren’t fortune enough to get a copy office, I have a solution for you.
I’ve known about this software for sometime, but only recently felt that there are a good number of operators that could benefit it. The software is an open-source project that is well known called Open Office. It comes with an entire Office Suite that in often matches the funcionality of microsoft office.
The best part is that you will be able to open microsoft office files and save files in microsoft office format using open office. Any of you who are in need of something beyond notepad, it is the best free piece of software for the job that I know of. You can download it using the link below:
http://download.openoffice.org/2.2.1/index.html
Once you arrive at the link, click the green button that says “Download OpenOffice.org” or something similiar. Then click “windows” and then click “continue to download” to get it started. Once you download it, run the installer and you’ll be off and running.
I also feel good in saying that the software is safe to download and install from the source provided as the project is very reputable and widely known. If you have questions about it, feel free to call me. I hope this can help some of you with your “can’t open MS Word file blues”.
System Requirements:
* Compatible with Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 (Service Pack 2 or higher), Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista (enhanced Vista integration from version 2.2)
* Requires 128 Mbytes RAM or moreOctober 14, 2008 at 10:09 pm #150092tn16ParticipantIts been sometime since my original post here, but I wanted to give you an update to let you know that there is a version now available that supports documents saved by office 2007.
You can get it here at this link:

While I am on the subject of thanks…I wanted to say also, between the help you gave us with Google Adwords, the free listing sights you’ve posted, and countless misc. help with computer stuff and websight information, so far this month our Google advertising is beating all of our phone books combined and we are not even half way thru with what we want to do with our websight and Google ads. So thank you so much for the support. (just my extra 2 cents) 8)
