Well I tried out cleaning our Hardwood floor for the first time today and I wasn’t really that impressed. I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong or what. It didn’t seem to be that shiny afterwards. Did I possibly not put enough wax on it? When I was done there was still a little bit of wax on the center of the pad. Maybe I put to much? How can I tell? And how long do I need to buff each area? Just a couple of passes?
Also our hardwood is in our kitchen so it gets pretty grimmy. I was thinking that the steel wool would clean that right up but it seemed like most stuff just stayed where it was. Do you all clean up anything on the floor before hand? Just use a towel and some water?
thanks for your help,

Repeat as many times as needed to remove the grime. Next, apply several thin coats of wax allowing ample dry time(10 min.) between coats. Make sure wax is dry before polishing. If it is not dry, the wax will build up on the polishing pad creating more friction and reducing the shine. Patience is the key. As for pricing, I used to charge 50 cents per sq.ft. but have since doubled.

March 29, 2011 at 1:26 am #150142Linda OrrKeymasterI did my first job with the new wood floor product. I was very disappointed and so was the customer. The demo made it sound like it would help with the scratches on the floor especially if you used the red polishing pad. The floor looked clean but I think they can make it look clean. I was expecting much more. I smoothed it over by giving a huge discount on my price. I was so embarassed. Maybe I didn’t do it right.

April 6, 2011 at 1:18 am #150144Linda OrrKeymasterI hadn’t promised anything other than cleaning. My expectations were based on the training video. It sounded like it would take out some of the scratches and I would be able to see a distinct difference. You can tell it is clean by the feel of it, but the look of it just dosen’t show much difference. Have you had the experience of it making a big difference in how the floor looks when you are done?

If you are talking about gouges instead of scratches then you have a totally different animal. A gouged floor needs either filling or sanding to remove. Wood flooring has many variables that have to be considered, laminated, hardwood, quality, age, finish the list goes on. The money is good if you choose to pursue it but training and research are huge. I have chosen not to pursue wood flooring any longer.
April 12, 2011 at 3:34 pm #150146Linda OrrKeymasterI too liked the wax we used before the new cleaning solution came out. I still have some but we determined to use the new solution because it isn’t supposed to be as slick. But now that I know a little bit more, I will be able to explain to the customer that the new solution mainly just cleans and will make it look a little bit better.

I’m with you on the new wood cleaning. I consider it a step up from a “mop/glo” type cleaning. I think the big selling point is the clean part, especially if you use a white pad beforehand to clean the floor and show the customer what we got up before we apply the wood floor cleaner. I think this will be the “wow” factor more so than the finished product. I have only done my own floors to test it so far and that is what I have concluded. Just my 2 cents.
