ParticipantI am amazed at how many operators have only ever used one of these products and have no ideas what the other is used for. So…, which one do you use and why? Are you one of the few that use both?

ParticipantI personally think our regular cleaning solution (with added boosters) do a great job of deodorizing – without leaving too harsh a smell. With so many people having allergies, etc. therefore I don’t use any extra deodorizing treatment following cleaning. I do use fresh scent as a pre-spray when necessary and found it works very well!

ParticipantI used them both this week. The fresh scent to deoderize pet stains and the customer didn’t like the smell of it, so I went back and canceled it out with the final step:)

ParticipantNeil,
I am having more and more success with FAE on pet stains and I think “ring around the room” as well…not sure about the latter, but I think so. FAE, just may do something about odor, without the organic chemical aroma associated with the deodorizers. Just a thought on the subject.
We had the same rxn to the deodorizer, some noses are very sensitive as we all know…
Have a great weekend…Dave

InactiveMy wife owns, (I tolerate) several cats. One had an accident due to an illness and urinated in one area. I used this as a learning experience and used the pet enzyme to remove the stain and the odor. Stain gone but not all the odor. I then used fresh scent and that seemed to reduce it more. After the fresh scent odor disappeared(I am not fond of the scent) There still was a residual odor. I then used final step mixed with water and flooded the area again. This time the odor was gone. Cats no longer smell the area.

InactiveI am not totally thrilled with the scent of fresh scent either nor are my customers, however, it does work well on odors. The thing to remember is this: Fresh Scent must be applied to dry material. The product must come in complete contact with all infected material. It can be used full strength for very offensive odors or dilluted down to 10:1 w/ water. Since Fresh Scent must be applied to dry material, I will sometimes use Fresh Scent first and then follow with pet enzyme. Final Step deodorizer is also a fantastic product. Used much in the same way as Fresh Scent, It can be used full strenght or dilluted. It is not necessary that material is dry when applying this product. I feel to really do a great job on the odor of pet urine, you should first flush as much of the urine out of the carpet as you can with plenty of water(cheap). Extract using the “Water-Claw”(available from HB) Apply pet enzyme, extract w/ water-claw. If odor remains, return after spot is dry and apply Fresh Scent followed with Final Step. Granted, I very seldom follow this procedure as time and cost becomes quite high.

Inactivei have also noticed that f/s will lighten the yellowing from pet stains.yes, lighten the yellowing.in some cases it totally eminated the yellow.this will depend on the type of carpet and yarn structure.give it a try .this lightening effect takes time.must totally dry to expereince the effect of the lightening or even totally eliminating it

ParticipantGordon, We use both when/if called for. I am not fond of the fresh scent odor, but those clients that have a pet odor issue certainly prefer it to the smell of urine. Final step is great, just pricey.
