I was wondering if any of you have run into this problem: 🙁 🙁
At one of my Apt. complexes there seems to be many red dye spots. A lot of the tennants say that they didn’t do anything to cause the spots. The manager and I talked last time and determined that this was getting a little weird (she isn’t mad at me what so ever). I have cleaned about 25 apts for her and 22 of then have had red spots.
I didn’t know if any of you have run into something like this?
When I was doing one apt. after I sprayed and cleaned, all of the sudden a huge red spot bled to the surface 😯 😯 😯 . As I investigated and looked into the carpet, there seemed to be a red granular substance down deep setting on top of the backing.
We were wondering if this is from cheap carpet, another company’s carpet cleaning method that is terrible, or some carpet fresh scent that may not of been vaccummed up.
We really can’t pin point it and I would love to know if any of you have run into this problem?

Were you able to remove the color once you noticed it bleeding? From what you have described, it sounds similar to something we run into, kids marker/ink sets. We often see this when a marker, colored pencil, ink spot, etc, gets wet and “magically appears”. Didn’t see it during the walkthru, but once you get it wet, it blows up. Had it happen today. I would think that if these spots are not apparent before you clean, but exist after, that they should clean up with either the pro spotter, or by rebuffing the carpet. Also, since it is a granule already in the carpet, maybe you need to rake the carpet before you vacuum to aid your vacuum in picking them up.
Just another thought. Anything outside of the building that could be tracked in by the tennants causing it? Fertilizer? Salts for melting snow/ice? I’d check the pavement/parking garage/lawn/etc. around the buildings for the culprit if it is happening in that many units.

Had a similar situation just recently. After investigating and asking questions the customer explained that she had let her children play with a new art paint that is out. Its little chips of dry colored paint. Its probably been out for years. The chips if allowed to stay in the carpet will with a little bit of humidity cling to the fibers of the carpet. Vacuuming will not dislodge the chips. (I tried). Once these chips recieve any form of moisture they take about 10 minutes to fully desolve. (I tested various colored chips) The color gets obsorbed by the fibers of the carpet causeing all the damage. Service Master cleaning products couldn’t even begin to break down the colored spots. I know this as they were kicked out of the project and I was called in to rescue the home. Whatever spot Service Master touched instantly set the paint into the carpet. Anything they didn’t touch I was able to extract with normal cleaning solutions. Needless to say there were 100’s of chips in this carpet. Ended up only cleaning a couple of traffic areas as and trying to fix the mess caused by SMaster. Hope this helps
