When questions are asked by people who are concerned about “chemicals” what do you do to calm their fears? I tell them “in the 25 years of existence of the franchise there has never been an incident with our mild water based cleaning solution”.
What more can you do or say?March 31, 2006 at 2:47 am #146160Tn02ParticipantI take a big swig of 101 and tell them, “look, it’s perfectly safe.”
Kidding, of course. I tell them about the same thing you do.
March 31, 2006 at 4:01 am #146161AnonymousInactiveI found a listing on the internet once that listed all the environmentally safe and friendly carpet cleaning companies and I believe Heaven’s Best was listed. If I am remember all this correctly, I’m sure Cody has the same info.
As for customers and our products, in an IICRC class we took the instructor said anymore almost 95% of the products most good carpet cleaners use are safer than your standard Tide Laundry detergent you buy in the store. So, we usually tell them that, but just reference it more to us. Also, we tell them we use a lower PH cleaner which is safer for them. Lot of the soak and suckers will use a really high PH cleaner as it will break down soil quicker in most cases and get them in and out faster. Then, they leave you with a really high PH carpet as they don’t neutralize it in any way.

We have put in our yellow page ad ORGANIC solution. I hope this helps us. We are getting a lot of people here that love organic stuff. But there is a such thing as Organic Chemistry!!!!!April 1, 2006 at 12:45 pm #146163pachecoParticipantMatt….
Just, what is an organic solution? I don’t think I would put that in any YP ad or any ad for that matter. Organic foods is one positve use of the word, with rather specific meaning. But, Organic Liquid??? that is an entirely different thing. Like you said organic chemistry exists, I would ad it is not necessairly good or environmentally friendly. Oil is organic and all of its derivatives. I am surprised that Cody has not comented on this.
April 2, 2006 at 3:36 am #146164AnonymousInactiveDave, if you can remember the web site and pass it along it sure would be nice to be armed with credible info. Anybody can say “Enviornmentally Friendly” just like anyone can say “Guaranteed”
April 2, 2006 at 3:39 am #146165AnonymousInactiveIt is one thing to say environmentally friendly and another to say organic. Our solution is environmentally friendly, however trying to convince a customer that it is “organic” will be tough to accomplish.
April 2, 2006 at 2:34 pm #146166AnonymousInactiveI like to say “We use a non-toxic, water-based citrus cleaning solution that leaves no sticky residues”. Keep it simple!
April 2, 2006 at 9:22 pm #146167pachecoParticipantI said nothing about a website.
I agree with Brian. If you use TGP, or Dry SOlvent and a few other misc compounds, be extra cautious…They are among the most hazardous chemicals you may introduce into a home. Read the MSDS and follow the istructions and maybe do alittle more research on your own.
I am at a disadvantage, I used to work with OSHA as an Industrial Hygienist and was trained in chemical exposure. It is very prudent to read and follow the instructions on the MSDS and then also research a little beyond to understand the meanaing of what you are reading.
Brian is right…keep it simple for the customer and perhaps offer the 101 MSDS for their review if needed.

April 2, 2006 at 10:04 pm #146168AnonymousInactiveSorry about the confusion Dave, I was posting to Dave Devlin, but thanks for your reply. I’m just getting more info for when someone asks, “whats in it”
April 3, 2006 at 12:50 am #146169HB2003ParticipantIf someone is determined know what exactly is in our product after telling them that it is “environmentally friendly”, I let them know that I have the MSDS on it and they can see first hand the chemical composition if they want. I have yet to have anyone actually look at it. 8)
April 19, 2006 at 9:58 pm #146170Dan ChildParticipantIt all depends on how you look at it.
You would have to be more specific on what you deem is “organic”
