ok moneybag……i mean dirtbag, maybe after being in business for as long as you have you can afford to lose 90% of a potential customer base. but i unfortunatley am not high and almighty like yourself; so forgive me if i’m not “delighted” with a 10% booking rate.
July 25, 2008 at 8:43 pm #152401tx45ParticipantSo I get about 2-3 leads a week. I book 50% of the jobs. I too respect their wishes and don’t call if they request an email response. In my email I explain to them “in order to give you an accurate quote a phone call would be best.” Some call some don’t. If i don’t hear back from them I call the next day.
If you are landing 10% of the requests, you’re doing OK. It’s a free service. Why would you want to do away with it??? Email and Internet are the way of the future. If you have a landing page or a web-site you should have a button on there where people can click to request an estimate. I have one on mine and it lands them on the current estimate request form. Works great!
Justin-what about something like “I understand by submitting this information a cleaning technician will call me.” and post it just above the submit button.July 25, 2008 at 8:58 pm #152402Tim nemethParticipantAmmon that’s a greast idea, I would like to see us have that on the web-site
Jim WilsonJuly 26, 2008 at 3:34 am #152403HBPuyallupParticipantThat is a great idea I don’t have very good luck with the emails the ones that I have i just called them because I have never booked a job by responding to email I tried to do there preferred method of contact. No one has bit my head of yet for calling them back. The only other way I think to have better success the emails is to maybe have a phone that can receive emails, but then your looking at a different phone if you don’t have that plus internet service with you provider. I think the first idea is the best.
July 26, 2008 at 3:51 am #152404tx45ParticipantI think in this day and age you have to have a phone with Internet connection if you want to stay on top of the competition, but that’s besides the point. With the current system Heaven’s Best has you can have a text message sent your phone when a customer submits an estimate request. It includes their name number and a few other details. That way you can get back to the customer immediately. Most people want instant results and don’t want to wait for a response.
July 26, 2008 at 1:44 pm #152405KY13Participant1- ok enough of this “free service” talk.
ammon/dirtbag maybe you guys got your franchises for free, but i paid about $15,000 for mine
2- phone estimates-effective. email estimates-not effective. atleast thats what the general consensus seems to be……therefore the email option should be eliminated…..which would “force” the customer into a phone estimate…..which would give us a higher chance of booking the job……which would lead to more money in our pockets. same theory applies with including protectant in the pricing…..by eliminating customer choice for protectant, youre “forcing” them to pay for it wether they like it or not! sooooo by eliminating customer choice for an email estimate youre “forcing” them into a phone estimate.
3- true there are some people out there who would just prefer to not talk on the phone, but i’d rather sacrafice that one job to land seven more.
4- sorry if i came across as an a*s but i’m hungover and cranky.July 26, 2008 at 3:32 pm #152406tx45ParticipantI don’t want to go round and round on this. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Email leads/estimate requests are effective for a lot of operators. It’s not going to go away. If you don’t want to use the service, stop accepting the emails. Just to clarify though, the online estimate request is a “free service” because corporate pays for the website that it is located on and DOES NOT CHARGE when they send someone a lead/estimate request from within their area. By the way Evan, buying a franchise or state or country has never been free.
July 26, 2008 at 5:29 pm #152407KY13Participantexactly its all about perception. i perceive it as included in our franchise fee while others might perceive it as a free service.
as far as not accepting the emails……that might be another option to consider…..give each operator the choice whether or not to accept them.July 26, 2008 at 9:49 pm #152408AnonymousInactiveEvan, by the way,

Whatever dudeJuly 27, 2008 at 2:03 pm #152411KY13Participantand that would be Mr. Dude to you
July 27, 2008 at 9:32 pm #152412pachecoParticipantWe get about a 10-15% success rate on these requests…however, zero when I give a price.
We are not and will not be the lowest or even near the lowest price in carpet & upholstery cleaning in our market. I feel that the suggestions for a return call are the best. Justin…please consider this.
SS and others have a plug and chug price calculator built into the software and you can get an instant quote…they are playing a numbers game, we are not. Each and every customer and job are different and no one price fits all.
Hope this helps Justin to change the website just a tad…
Dave Dilts (no Mr. needed, required or wanted…just Dave is fine)
July 27, 2008 at 9:45 pm #152413pachecoParticipantBTW, some areas of the country are far more tied into the internet than others…example,,,Ammon lives up the road from Microsoft…duh. No wonder you get 2-3 a week…I might see 1 a month maybe in Lancaster County, PA.
DC gets a huge number and due to the urban setting most probably…as Bag (Mr Dirtbag said…work every possible angle to increase your customer base…) and besides..it’s FREE… FREE is huge 4 letter word in marketing.
ANY customer we get for FREE is awesome!
My 2 cents worth…
July 28, 2008 at 12:20 pm #152414AnonymousInactiveWell put Dave!
