I wanted to share something I’ve been working on over the last few weeks (in between marketing campaigns of course). My son is a cub scout and this weekend is our big pine wood derby. In addition to the scouts building their own cars, parents are encouraged to build and race cars as well. I couldn’t pass up a golden marketing opportunity like this now could I…? See attached photo for my entry!
I’ll let you know how we do and if it leads to any jobs! Wish us luck!
All the best,

ParticipantThe results are in! Team Heaven’s Best took 3rd overall in the parents division (12 cars)! Not bad for a shoe box on wheels!

ParticipantThanks Dave – I’d love to see that car. So far it’s generated one referral. Plus, a friend of mine is going to bring it to his son’s PWD to run.

InactiveWell done! Great job on thinking outside the box. It’s those type of marketing ideas that people need to take advantage of. That is something that not only gets people to remember you, but also gets them talking to others about how creative it was. I wouldn’t be surprised if you see multiple jobs down the road from it.

ParticipantI downloaded a pic of the van from our HB website and resized it to about a 5×7. I then printed it out on photo paper (any paper will do – photo paper is nice and shiny), cut it out and used a glue stick to affix it to the side. To get the other side, I just reversed the image on my computer and printed another copy – the logo and other lettering printed backwards on the right side but it’s not that noticeable. For the hood and rear doors, I just reduced and printed small logos and glued them on.
I used a pencil eraser to remove the corporate phone number from the side of the van and then I just wrote my number in with a red sharpie.
Call me if you need any pointers. My son’s car places in the top 3 consistently each year (it’s all in the axle prep!)
