I have a couple of cushions that a cat has urinated on. I cleaned them ( just a regular cleaning) then put two applications of Fresh scent. The customer is still saying there is an odor.
Should I have used pet enzyme to clean?
OR
Is there another process I can use to get the rest of the odor out?

August 12, 2005 at 1:09 am #145207KS07ParticipantShane: I’ve read in this forum of using “fresh scent” or “final step deod” on the problem. Then placing the cushion inside a plastic garbage bag and closeing it up. Then using your Upholstery Mate to vacuum the air out of the bag. This process would force the fresh scent or final step deod thru-out the cushion. I don’t recall for how long you should do this nor if it would work as I have never done it but the previous author stated that this process works very well. I have kept this info in the back of my mind just waiting for that moment when I would need to apply it. I hope that the previous author picks up on this and conferms or denys what I have said. Anyways… Good luck!

Use plenty of eith product, and do as Don mentioned with the plastic bag. When you do this it will suck the cushion down to be flat and hard as a rock. When I got to that point, I shut the Up. Mate off. A second treatment may be necessary. Try it!

Have yet to try it, but we always thought it sounded like it should work. If you try it, let us know how it goes. Hopefully we will never have to use it, but then again, was hoping I’d never come across Haitian cotton furniture and let’s just say I know first hand that the stuff still exists out there…..and no it doesn’t clean up easy/well.

My customer had a cushion that the dog urinated on it several times before they noticed the smell. I took the cushion and applied a very liberal amount of pet enzyme and extracted the air out of the very large plastic bag. I then let it sit for an hour or two and then extracted as much as possible out of it. I then applied the best scent and repeated the process. I allowed the cushion to air dry for two days and presto, no more smell. I did a quick clean up of the matrerial and that was it. 😀 Customer was very happy.

I never got a call back so I called him the other day and he said they seemed to work fine. He says he tought that he smelt something every once and awhile, but he thought that was paranoia.
Just wanted to Thank people for their help!
