I did a job recently for one of my property managers. I was re-cleaning a house because the tenant found someone on Craigslist to clean her carpet cheap. I spoke to the tenant and the “carpet cleaner” had rented a rug doctor to clean her place.

I have a guy in my area that cleans with a rug doctor and will clean any property for $50. Can only imagine the quality of work the customer expects.

A rug doctor costs about $24/day for the smaller one, and $27/day for the larger (couple inches wider). A bottle of their cleaner costs about $20-25 and will clean approximately 1500-3000 sq ft depending on which cleaner you get (they offer 3-5 different ones). So, based on that, that guy in theory has about $50 invested in rug doctor alone for each job and is charging $50. Don’t worry about him, unless he owns the rug doctor outright, the math shows he won’t be around too long. Even if he skips the cleaning solution and just prespots some areas and runs hot water only, he is still losing money or breaking even at best. Rug doctors are not fast machines to use……..

ok, now back to your regularly scheduled programming (see Craigs list)
